If you’re a man above the age of 35, you may have noticed a significant decline in your energy, strength, or libido over the last few years as compared to when you were in your 20s.

Although testosterone along with levels of other hormones will lower naturally as a man ages, some men experience a sharp decline upon entering their 30s and may suffer from brain fog, insomnia, weakness, or have little to no desire to have sex.

Most men who have low T may not seek help at first as many of the same symptoms are caused by everyday stressors, however, dealing with abnormally low testosterone levels along with other associated hormones over the course of several years will eventually lead to major, life-altering side effects that require medical treatment in the form of HRT (hormone replacement therapy).

FountainTRT

FountainTRT has legitimately built a cutting edge TRT service. When you go to their website and take their quiz you realize that other TRT providers are stuck in 2015.

FountainTRT feels a lot closer to a startup than a TRT clinic. They provide a seamless quiz, evaluation, and then give you an option to do blood work locally at a LabCorp location, or alternatively have some COME TO YOUR HOUSE.

They are a premium concierge service that is on call 24/7 for any questions and urgent labs required.

While other companies hire freelance professionals, their medical team is comprised of full time doctors that will monitor you on a 1:1 basis. Tadalafil, HCG, Anastrozole and Enclomiphene.

TRT Online

Luckily, receiving proper treatment for low testosterone is no longer the hassle that it used to be now that telehealth treatment is widely available!

Rather than have to go to in-person visits, men can simply order hormone test kits online to check their testosterone levels at home.

However, the only issue with using at-home test kits is selecting the right company, as the telehealth market is completely flooded with all sorts of brands, some being completely unreliable with shady providers and ineffective treatments.

Thankfully, Hone Health offers the leading service for at-home hormone tests for men and provides in-depth video consultations with credibly certified physicians so that men receive exactly what they need when it comes down to treatment and next steps.

Meet Saad Alam, Founder of Hone Health

Hone Health Review

Here’s what Saad Alam, the founder of Hone Health, had to say about why he created the company in his latest statement on Product Hunt,

“We’re excited to tell the world about Hone and help break a huge stigma that’s been holding men back from being their best. I went through the problem myself at the age of 35. I started to lose my energy, my stamina, my sleep became worse, my sex drive was completely gone, I felt sad, and I started to gain weight.

My primary care physician told me it was in my head and it took me 6 months and countless specialists to diagnose my condition, Low Testosterone. I went on hormone optimization therapy and my energy, mood, and confidence came back. It changed my life.

Welcome Hone: Now you can get complex care for men’s hormone health from the convenience of your home. Real Science, real partners, and real results. We believe that this problem has become widespread for men, nearly 1/2 men over 35 are affected, and going through a process like Hone will become completely normal. We’ve quietly helped thousands of men and their families already.”

Hormone Optimization

If anyone understands hormone optimization, it has to be Hone Health!

While most physicians agree that the target range for testosterone levels ranges from 350 to 750 ng/dL, many men may experience symptoms associated with low T even though they’re considered to be in the normal range.

The most common cutoff point for diagnosing low T is somewhere between 280 ng/dL to 320 ng/dL, but the physicians at Hone Health realize that this range may be higher for many men, especially those who are still in their 20s or 30s, are extremely healthy, and have an active lifestyle.

What most people don’t know is that the “normal range” for testosterone is based on a conglomerate of adult men from varying health backgrounds and does not accurately represent what levels should be in healthy men who do not suffer from certain health conditions or who are not obese.

In fact, it was recently discovered that the bottom 2.5th, 5th, 50th percentiles for testosterone in healthy, non-obese men aged 19-39 years were 264, 303, 531 ng/dL respectively.

This means that the cutoff point to diagnose testosterone deficiency in healthy men only applies to the bottom 5th percentile of the established reference range and there are plenty of men out there who may not receive treatment, even if they suffer from low T symptoms.

What’s worse is the reference range used by my doctors is based upon studies that include non-healthy, obese men which in turn lowers the normal range by up to 30 ng/dL!

Due to major room for error when it comes to properly diagnosing and treating low T in men under the age of 40, Hone Health addresses the issue by taking a look at the big picture and not relying on test results alone.

While its physicians certainly take into account test results, they also make sure to ask all the questions necessary in regards to symptoms, side effects, and lifestyle modifications in order to come up with the best and most appropriate form of treatment for each individual.

At Home Testosterone Test

All customers of Hone Health will be required to take an at-home testosterone test prior to receiving medical consultation and treatment.

The test kits are extremely user-friendly and are finger-prick-based.

Blood samples must be collected in the early morning while fasted in order to achieve the most accurate results possible.

The test kit must be returned to the lab the same day as testing in order to detect values for the following biomarkers:

Hone Health vs. Competitors

Hone Health offers one of the most affordable and comprehensive packages for male hormone testing when compared to similar brands.

In fact, most other brands offer testosterone-only at-home test kits or only include 4-5 biomarkers within their tests.

For reference, here is the pricing for testosterone-only test kits offered by competitors:

  • Everlywell’s Free Testosterone Test – $49
  • Imaware’s Total Testosterone Test – $69
  • LetsGetChecked’s Free Testosterone Test – $69

The above competitors also offer male hormone panels, however, they range in price from $139-$259 and fail to include biomarkers for liver function or luteinizing hormone.

My Experience with Hone

I’ve been struggling with T issues for about 8 years now. I’ve tested with T as low as 330 a couple of years ago, and while I’m a pretty muscular guy and I have no depression at all, I was feeling tiredness in the afternoons as early as 2PM and I was sick of it.

In the past I would go to lab test centers but in some states this isn’t possible without a prescription, so I was pretty excited that Hone (formerly Peak) has a mail in test. The craziest part is that it’s $45 to start with zero commitments. Comparable tests from Lets Get Checked that doesn’t even include Free T cost $129.

Recognizing this value I wanted to give Hone a shot (Ha!).

This is what my experience was like.

Ordering the Hone Health At-Home Hormone Test

Hone Health Review

Ordering the at-home test kit was extremely easy and fast.

You just need to fill out your personal info and answer a few questions..

Receiving the Test

Hone Health Review

I got my test 3 days later (This is the older branding).

The kit comes with everything  needed to complete the test, including a set of lancets, alcohol pads, and the biohazard bag to send back your blood samples.

Taking The Test

Hone Health Review

It takes about 15 minutes to follow the instructions.

You always want to take Testosterone tests in the AM after waking and not eating for about 12 hours, this is when T is highest in the body. Refraining from eating will also rule out other potential errors.

You basically just use the needle puncher to pop a hole and then wait for the blood to pool and drop, you can squeeze your finger to encourage the blood. Once you’re done you should allow the strip to dry for about an hour.

The test strip indicated that this would be around 4 drops of blood but this typically varies between 3-6 drops depending on the person taking the test.

Shipping Back the At-Home Test Kit

Hone Health Review

As soon as I was finished I went to my mailbox and threw it in there.

It’s important to return your sample the same day as testing in order to obtain the most accurate results.

Hone Health Test Results

I received my results within 5 days of returning his test kit.

The test included the following biomarkers along with their reference ranges, this is far superior to other at home T tests we’ve tried.

  • Total Testosterone
  • Free Testosterone
  • Percent Free Testosterone
  • Sex-Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
  • Estradiol
  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
  • Albumin
  • Alanine aminotransferase (ALT)
  • Aspartate Aminotransferase (AST)

My levels were FAR from Ideal. My Free T was 350. This is pathetically low, and while your doctor may tell you that this is within “normal ranges” don’t buy it. The normal ranges that the medical profession frequently recommend are pathetic. I want real T, not borderline low.

My First Appointment

The reason Hone is my favorite Testosterone clinic right now is because once you do the test you get to speak to a Dr.

I was scheduled to speak with Dr. Steven Campbell, one of Hones experts.

Hone Health Review
Sorry for the not-so-flattering pic Steven

I was absolutely flattered with Dr. Campbells knowledge. Steven was not a regular Dr. drinking the Kool Aid of the modern medical establishment, with their shitty advice and pathetic “Normal” ranges for hormones.

Steven and I spoke for close to 30 minutes about my results and next steps. The thing is that I’m 29 years old and any Doctor worth their salt is going to offer TRT as a last option.

What makes Hone special is that not only will they send you supplements to first try to boost your T naturally but they will prescribe and deliver TRT treatment if necessary. This saves you a ton of time and money, just seeing a Doctor in person can be hundreds of dollars and monthly follow ups will blow that number up.

Post Appointment Action Items

Since my T was low we decided to first try to naturally increase my T levels. The recommendations were as follows along with the reasoning behind them:

Supplements

  • Beef Thyroid: Because Testosterone levels are heavily decided by the thyroid gland and I have family members with less than perfect thyroid function I decided to take the Ancestral Supplements Beef Thyroid which is a combination of grass fed beef liver and thyroid.
  • Magnesium 500mg daily before sleep: Magnesium is one of the building blocks of Testosterone
  • Vitamin D: in the morning Most of our population is deficient and a massive proportion of Covid deaths are missing vitamin D.
  • Zinc 50mg/daily:
  • Boron 3mg/daily
  • Omega 3 with DHA and EPA: Two tablespoons

Additionally he recommended I do the following

  • Get my thyroid tested for potential hypothyroidism
  • Read the book Optimized Under 35 by Steven Campbell:  The book was a treasure trove of hormonal education and action items for me. But since I was already eating super clean and working out by lifting heavy, it was less useful for me.

My Second Appointment

After 6 weeks I asked Hone to see Dr. Campbell once more and monitor my progress.

I was happy to report that my energy levels were completely reversed and I was no longer getting tired in the afternoons which was the initial reason I had my T tested. We also discovered that my stomach pain and some other side effects I was feeling was due to the form of magnesium I was taking, so I am now taking magnesium threonate.

I also lowered my

Our Honest Thoughts on Hone Health Hormone Test Kit

We found this test to be extremely helpful in learning more about hormonal health and potential underlying conditions that could affect not only our testosterone levels but overall health as well.

The test is extremely affordable and encompasses several additional biomarkers that are not typically included in other at-home testosterone test kits.

We were incredibly surprised at how comprehensive the telehealth video consultation was and our medical provider even discussed other potential health conditions that may have contributed to our test results.

Although we decided to not use HRT at this current time, we definitely plan on using Hone Health’s supplement to enhance natural testosterone production and improve overall energy.

  1. Couldn’t agree more with Leo. Bought the at home
tests weeks ago. Returned it immediately. I had to follow up with them on status of the test multiple times. Finally got confirmation that it was received and now I still have to wait 2 more weeks for my consultation. Much better products and companies out there. Don’t waste your time or money.

  2. What a crock this company is. Customer service rep told me that he could tell my blood had hemolyzed on the card based on the photo I had sent to him. I was confused at how he could tell my red blood cells had ruptured based on a photo. Lost all trust in them at that point. Either they thought I was an idiot or they hired them. Either way- no. Just no.

  3. I wonder how a accurate a drop of blood on a card is….lol. expensive machines analyze vials from my experience so this doesn’t pass the smell test.
How much does it cost to market this on social etc …. someone is paying for it!

  4. I have to wait 3 weeks for a consult and there isn’t one available before 8:30am. This entire process is a sham- would have bee less expensive and faster had I just went to my primary care provider

  5. Already tested low testosterone from my personal doctor and on gel pump. Not a big fan after reading all the bad about. Looking to get on a treatment lab as such. Please help me out if possible. I still have my lab work from this year I believe a couple months ago.
