🍆 Concerns Raised About Semaglutide and Sexual Health

A recent study looked into erectile dysfunction (ED) and testosterone deficiency in non-diabetic, obese men who were prescribed semaglutide.

Men taking semaglutide were found to be significantly more likely to develop ED compared to those who didn’t take the drug.

Specifically, 1.47% of semaglutide users developed ED versus 0.32% in the control group.

That means semaglutide increased ED by nearly five fold!

The study also showed a higher risk of testosterone deficiency among semaglutide users, with 1.53% affected compared to 0.80% in the control group.

Participants hadn’t been diagnosed with ED or certain other health conditions before starting semaglutide.

They also all suffered from obesity, so there’s no word on how this impacts people who are already fit.

While semaglutide can be effective for fat loss, it’s essential to be aware of these potential risks… especially with regard to your sexual health.

🤖 Machine Learning Offers Hope for Degenerative Brain Disorders

Researchers at the University of Copenhagen developed a groundbreaking machine-learning algorithm capable of tracking protein clumps in real-time under a microscope.

These protein clumps are the culprits behind diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s!

The new algorithm can map and track these clumps quickly and accurately, which used to take researchers weeks but now takes just minutes.

Best of all, this new tool speeds up research, allowing scientists to conduct more studies in less time.

By providing detailed insights into the behavior of protein clumps, researchers can better understand the mechanisms behind neurodegenerative diseases.

This knowledge is crucial for developing effective treatments.

The algorithm also opens up new possibilities for drug development.

It can test the effects of different compounds on protein clumps, paving the way for new drugs that can prevent clumping or transform harmful clumps into less dangerous forms.

The implications of this tool extend beyond just dementia and Alzheimer’s.

It can also be used to study other conditions involving protein clumping, such as Parkinson’s disease and certain types of cancer.

💊 Do “Testosterone Boosters” Really Work?

You’ve seen the ads for “testosterone boosters.”

But do they really work?

The answer is… maybe.

A recent comprehensive review of studies from the last two decades sought to determine the effectiveness of various testosterone boosters.

This review analyzed data from 52 studies, covering 27 different supplements.

The studies included four different groups: male athletes, men with late-onset hypogonadism, infertile men, and healthy men.

Here’s what the research revealed.

Out of all the testosterone boosters reviewed, most were found to be ineffective in increasing total testosterone levels.

However, there were a few exceptions worth noting.

For male athletes, β-hydroxy β-methylbutyrate (HMB) and betaine showed effectiveness.

These supplements were able to boost testosterone levels, making them potentially useful for enhancing athletic performance.

For men with late-onset hypogonadism, Eurycoma longifolia, a blend of Punica granatum fruit rind and Theobroma cacao seed extracts (marketed as Tesnor™), and purified Shilajit extract (PrimaVie™) were found to be possibly effective.

Eurycoma longifolia and Withania somnifera (also known as ashwagandha) were found to be possibly effective for healthy men.

Overall, while the market is flooded with testosterone boosters claiming miraculous results, the reality is that only a few have shown any significant effect.
