Definitely agree with you on the deadlift and am loving your work in here. Subbed!

Glad to have you aboard Ltl.

---Training---

Been feeling pretty awful these past few days so training is suspended until I can find my awesomeness.

That said, yesterday was a PT/agility test for a potential job. Had pretty dim prospects on my performance given this illness stuff, but once I was given the go a head and the clock began to tick, I shut everything out and was on cruise control. The test was a straight forward obstacle course - 140 yards total, 6 tasks/obsticles, cutting in and out of cones, etc.

-Climb 6' fence
-Crawl under a few barriers
-Jump 4' wall
-Climb through window
-Run up some stairs
-Identify a suspect out of 4(suspect info was given to us at beginning of course).
-Drag 160lb dummy 40 feet.
(Wearing trainers, jeans, gun belt w/gun and other stuff).

Everything was smooth other than my fence incident in which my gun belt got caught on the top of the fence. Only a small delay... but a delay.

50 applicants ran it. A perfect score (100pts) was a 45 second run. Slowest passing time was 80 seconds (not sure of point value). Nailed it in 50.04 seconds putting me in the mid-90's pts. Fastest time of the day was a high 46 seconds. Not to f'n shabby! Cruise control ftw.

Edit: If you hadn't guessed, test was for law enforcement. I also like these types of tests. They may not be as "hardcore" as a 1.5 mile run, max push ups, and max situps BUT it is more practical in the physical sense. Cops won't be chasing a suspect for miles on foot, never ever do push ups or situps before an arrest. People also tend to train specifically for those types of tests which means they get good at the test and don't actually increase performance on the practical stuff (speed and strength).

7 - 18 - 11 --- Intensity
Squat 1x5x355
Push Press 1x5x200
Clean 5x3x205
*Ham/Back Raise 3x8, DB Rows 3x8x70

Pretty darn good day. Woke up today feeling a bit better, but still not close to 100%. Either way, I didn't have the heart to push training back another day. Squats were pretty good, though the 5th rep turned into a grind. This is fine. Push presses flew up during the warm ups and though the heaviest sets aren't pretty, they got up overhead and locked out.

Finished the main lifts off with [full] cleans. Besides the warm ups, first time doing these and I think it turned out better than anticipated. Still to much stuff to work on here though. For the future, will consider going to a hang [full] clean as I'm told they are easier to get technique down for us self-taught guys.

Training ended with back raises (kinda) and DB rows, both down for 3x8. Out of gas.

Video is on the way but in the mean time...

Thanks.

The shoes are Wei-Rui Samsons and can be found at maxbarbell.com.

I like them. Comfortable, fits a wide foot well, and pretty darn solid over all. Heels/soles are made of a very dense rubber (think work boot), not like your regular oly shoe but because of the flexibility it will probably hold up longer. Been using them for close to 8 months, 3-4 times a week and no signs of wear other than the initial break in. Inexpensive too.

These are my first pair of OL shoes though, so I cannot compare to other brands.

Looks great man, I like those shoes.

I ordered a similar shoes which I will be getting for my bday. The adidas weightlifting shoe, which looks very similar to this shoes. Except the adidas have a .6 inch heel and those have a .75 inch heal. .15 inches is a pretty small amount. This will be my first pair of squat shoes too
