Bodybuilders lift weights and take steroids to grow man boobs. Said no one ever.
In reality, bodybuilders lift to get jacked and as a result look more masculine/alpha. However, it’s not unusual for some bodybuilders to experience gyno on their quest for physical perfection. Especially those who take anabolic steroids.
The reason why steroid-users are more susceptible to gyno, is because estrogen levels can rise to extremely high levels during a cycle.
By raising estrogen levels, this is the body’s way of dealing with abnormally high testosterone levels.
High testosterone = high LDL cholesterol = increased blood pressure
High estrogen levels = high HDL cholesterol = decreased blood pressure
Thus, without the rise in this female sex hormone (estrogen), your blood pressure would be through the roof and your health would take a downward spiral. Thank God for inventing the body’s genius defence mechanisms, eh?
However, this rise in estrogen can result in the synthesis of breast tissue under the pecs…making you look less manly. Some people experience swollen nipples before they actually form any significant amount of breast tissue. Thus there are different stages of gynecomastia.
Steroids That Don’t Cause Gyno
Firstly, there are NO steroids that directly cause gyno. Because otherwise everyone who took a certain compound would 100% develop man boobs (which doesn’t happen).
However, there are certain steroids that will result in more aromatization. Basically meaning that the process of testosterone converting into estrogen will be more.
Aka your estrogen levels will shoot up.
Steroids Notorious for Causing Gyno Are:
So, basically the steroids which are more likely to give you gyno are bulking steroids which also result in the most water retention.
Some people who are scared of developing gyno, but want to take the steroids above, have the option of combining them with anti-estrogen drugs such as: arimidex, clomid, HCG and nolvadex.
Other steroids (not on this list) will also aromatize too, but not to the level of the 4 mentioned above and thus are less risky.
AAS Less Likely to Cause Gyno:
The risk of developing gyno on trenbolone is lower because it does not aromatize (convert to estrogen).
However, gyno is still possible when taking tren (if you’re super sensitive), because of its effect on prolactin levels.
For the unaware, high amounts of prolactin can also bring about gyno symptoms. Thus, in short, trenbolone can cause gyno but it’s unlikely.
Thus tren is the best bulking steroid to take if you’re trying to stay clear of developing man boobies.
Cutting steroids are also pretty safe when trying to avoid gyno, because they don’t cause your testosterone levels to rise to incredibly high. Instead, most of their attributes are more fine-tuned for fat burning, instead of muscle-building.
Winstrol is probably the best cutting steroid there is when it comes to building muscle and burning fat at the same time. And luckily winny doesn’t aromatize, meaning you don’t have to worry about looking like your mum come the end of your cycle.
Obviously other cutting agents, such as clenbuterol, won’t cause gyno either as they don’t affect your hormones at all. Clen simply revs your metabolism up a few notches so you turn into a calorie-burning machine.
So the 2 that don’t cause gyno are: winstrol and anavar.
…However trenbolone is also unlikely to result in any negative reactions (boob wise).
It’s important to note that MANY people do take high aromatizing steroids and never suffer from gyno. Just look at the Mr Olympia bodybuilders…those guys take high doses of bulking steroids all throughout the year, and how many of them do you see with full-blown gyno?
If you’re still very anxious, just be sure to monitor your pecs/nipples during your cycle…that’s if you decide to take the more risky bulking steroids such as dianabol or testosterone.
You won’t go from having Herculean pecs like Arnie to having moobs like Fat Basta*d overnight.
It’s a gradual process that happens over several days and weeks. So be sure to monitor your nipples and lower your dose if they begin to get puffy…or throw in some anti-estrogen supplements.
Gynectrol from Crazybulk is another (natural) supplement option that’s supposed to control estrogen levels.
