Mechanism of Action
DSIP acts as a neuromodulator and thus induces sleep by directly affecting neuronal systems involving GABA and Glutamate. It also promotes slow-wave sleep patterns and ensures shorter sleep latency periods in individuals. Other than this, it can alter the serum levels of hormones, reduces the intensity of withdrawal symptoms and may exert anti-oxidant effects which strengthens the immune system.
