At my gym I see it all the time. A scrawny teen with “BACK-NE” (back acne), doing a volume training routine that he most likely got out of a bodybuilding magazine.
Steroid use, along with other performance enhancing drugs, is rapidly increasing where I live. At my gym, which is a family recreation center (YMCA), there are many steroid users who are 21 and under. Constantly, these teens are openly conversing about steroids. Really, I just don’t get it. Why are these dumbass punk kids wasting their money and risking adverse effects and being arrested?
Testosterone is a steroid hormone that makes and maintains masculine features. Testosterone is naturally created by the testes. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids (AAS) are synthetically made from this natural hormone. Anabolic Androgenic Steroids are commonly referred to just as “Anabolic Steroids”, “Steroids”, and numerous other street names. These drugs are taken to enhance performance in sports and in weight training/muscle building.
Benefits of Steroids
- Rapid Muscle Gain
- Fat Loss
- Strength Gains
Negative Effects of Steroids
- Testicular Atrophy (Your balls shrinking). Testicles come back after steroid cycle stops.
- Gynecomastia (Bitch tits)
- Can prematurely stop growth (in adolescents)
- Increased hair growth
- Increased risk of heart disease
- Possibly can add to early hair loss
Teen Steroid Use
In 2008, a study done by the University of Michigan found that in the United States, 2.2% of teens have used steroids by the 12th grade. Alright 2.2%, that’s nothing. We live in the United States that has a population of 303,824,640 (In 2008) people. Think how many of those people are teens. 2.2% is a lot of dumbasses wasting their money.
According to Casey Butt the average muscle gains in natural trainees are as follows:
- 1st year – 16 lbs
- 2nd year – 8 lbs
- 3rd year – 4 lbs
- 4th year – 2 lbs
- 5th year – 1 lb
Assuming these numbers are true, although in many instances people can build more than 16 lbs of muscle in their 1st year, why the hell do teens turn to steroids? Are teens that greedy, that they need to gain more than 16 lbs of muscle in one year? 16 lbs would be a huge difference in one’s appearance. Picture yourself with 16 lbs of solid muscle on top of what you got. Damn! You look buff dude!
SOCIETY OF BITCHES
Why wouldn’t teens be interested in steroids? In our modern society we are constantly looking for the easy way out. Everything is made easy. I can’t remember the last time I opened a book to do research. I simply type it into a search engine online and in less than a second I have a list of website that will answer my question. Steroids are as simple as this- Steroids are a scrawny guy’s Google.
We are a society of lazy bitches. This is a general statement of our society. There are many of us who are “good ol’ fashioned hard working men”. The problem with society is that being a lazy bitch is glamorized. There are hundreds of “reality shows” featuring lazy pieces of shit who have everything given to them.
When it’s not a “reality show” showing off the lives of the lavish, it’s a show about the bratty ass kids who put their parents through hell when they don’t get every single thing they want. There are new products everyday that claim to make our life easier and thousands of idiots rush out to get them. We all sit around on our asses watching TV (I am one of these people) a few hours a night. Not only do I sit in front of the TV, I sit watching TV, with a laptop on my lap.
Hard Work Pays Off
Alright guys, I admitted I’m lazy. You can be to. But the one place you can’t be lazy is the GYM. The key to a good program in a “teen noob” is moving heavy shit. Okay, it’s not that simple. You need a program, a good proven program, that is based around hard lifts. You need to keep adding weight to the bar. You need to eat your ass off! Try this for a few months and then tell me if you still want to use steroids. You CAN make impressive, noticeable, big results from natural training. Look around on the Internet forums and there are thousands of people who can attest to this.
I am not opposed to steroids, I just feel like if you’re going to use them wait until you maxed out your natural gains. If you don’t use the easy gains you are simply wasting your money and putting yourself in unnecessary risk. After you make gains for a few years, then you can decide whether or not to use steroids to move above your natural limits.
You can waste your money and show your shrunken nuts off, or you can be a “good ol’ hard working man”. You can tell people you fought for every pound or you can send them to “the guy you get your junk from”. The choice is yours.
