For the unaware, Phil Heath is the current 7x Mr Olympia champion.
If Phil continues to dominate, he’ll officially go down as the most successful bodybuilder of all time.
…That’s if he beats Ronnie Coleman/Lee Haney’s record of winning 8 Sandows.
There’s no doubt that those who compete in the Olympia are mass monsters, but Phil is in a league of his own. His muscle bellies are so incredibly full and round, it’s like you’re wearing 3D glasses when you look at him.
Phil’s most dominant muscle groups are his delts/traps. When both of these muscles are exceptionally developed, they create this 3D/popping out effect.
Phil Heath’s stats (1):
- Height: 5 ft 9
- Competition weight: 240lbs (109kg)
- Off season weight: 275lbs (125kg)
- Competition body fat: 3% approx
- Arms – 22 inches
- Legs – 32 inches
- Calves – 20 inches
- Neck 18.5 inches
- Waist – 29 inches
With Phil, you either love him or you hate him.
He has over 3.5 million fans on his Facebook page, but he also has a lot of haters.
Many people who dislike Phil have formed their opinion after watching the documentary film Generation Iron (a modern version of Pumping Iron).
If you haven’t seen GI, order it off Amazon…it’s awesome! Almost as good as Pumping Iron dare I say.
After Generation Iron was released, many people started to perceive Phil as arrogant/big headed. Consequently many bodybuilding fans chose to support Kai Greene instead.
Proof Phil Heath is on Steroids
Phil has pretty much admitted to taking steroids on video (when he didn’t think he was being filmed).
A Youtuber known as ‘Prophet Muscle’ confronted Phil Heath and asked him why he takes steroids…
Phil responded by saying “because…” but was interrupted by his bodyguard who told him not to speak any more on the subject.
See the video below:
Young Phil Heath
Here’s what Phil looked like back in 2003 as a 23 year old natural bodybuilder…
How do I know Phil was natty in this picture?
Because he weighed 192lbs (3), meaning he’s gained roughly 50lbs of lean mass since then.
Adding 50lbs of lean mass is standard when somebody hops on the juice train.
A person taking steroids will experience most of their gains in the first few cycles, so if Phil HAD used steroids by this point, there’d be little room for more growth.
…certainly not 50lbs worth.
This picture of Phil as a natty proves that he’s a genetic freak. Hence why he’s nicknamed ‘the Gift’.
So if you think you can look like Phil by simply taking steroids and training hard, think again.
This guy was freaking HUGE even before he started juicing.
Steroids Phil Heath is Likely to Be Taking?
- HGH & Insulin
I think there’s a strong chance Phil’s used trenbolone. Tren will help you build muscle everywhere, but more so in muscles that contain a higher number of androgen receptors i.e. in the shoulders and traps.
AKA the 2 muscles groups that really ‘pop’ on Phil.
Tren also gives you that dry/shredded look, making it easier to achieve striations.
HGH & Insulin
It seems Phil’s also used HGH and insulin, as he possesses the ‘steroid gut’ that so many IFBB pros have these days (including Kali Muscle).
This gut is caused by bodybuilders combining human growth hormone with insulin.
Why do bodybuilders bother using insulin if it causes this pregnant-look?
Insulin is highly anabolic and using it causes more nutrients to be shifted into the muscle cell. Similar to why guys use dextrose post-workout in their protein shakes; it creates a more anabolic environment.
Although its effects are over-hyped in my opinion.
Anadrol is one of the most powerful bulking steroids on the planet.
…and one of the harshest.
On anadrol you’ll experience huge increases in strength and size.
Why do I think Phil might’ve used this bulking steroid?
If you’ve seen Phil in the off-season he looks bloated and almost fat…despite not being at a high body fat percentage.
One of the most common side effects of taking A-drol is large amounts of water retention, resulting in a smooth/puffy/bloated appearance.
This is exactly how Phil looks in the off-season.
When it hits September and he’s battling it out against the best bodybuilders in the world, Phil comes in drier than Gandhi’s flip flop.
This is largely down to his coach Hany Rambod, who takes full control of his competition prep, manipulating Phil’s water/sodium intake to flush as much extracellular water out as possible.
This enables Phil to display maximum muscle definition and achieve thinner skin.
However, Phil would be limiting himself if he didn’t take a compound to dry him out even more. There are 2 main cutting steroids which can do this:
I don’t believe Phil would use winstrol, because winny will make your muscles appear as flat as a pancake.
Whereas Phil’s muscles look extremely full 24/7.
Instead, I believe Phil uses Anavar when cutting as this will dry him out like winny, but without compromising his muscle fullness.
