International Powerlifting Federation (IPF)

The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) is the body that governs international powerlifting. Over 100 federations from around the globe are affiliated with the IPF. The USAPL is the sanctioning body for the IPF in the United States. One of the functions of the IPF is to coordinate powerlifting’s involvement and operations with the World Games.

Drug Testing

The IPF is drug tested.

Equipment

Allowed equipment: single ply polyester bench shirts and lifting suits. Knee wraps as long as 2 meters are also allowed. Briefs are also legal.

Illegal equipment: denim, canvas, open back or velcro closure shirts.

Age Divisions

Men
OPEN: 14 years+
SUB-JUNIOR: 14-18
JUNIOR: From January 1 in the calendar year he reaches 19 through the full calendar year in which he reaches 23
MASTER I: From January 1 in the calendar year he reaches 40 through the full calendar year in which he reaches 49
MASTER II: From January 1 in the calendar year he reaches 50 through the full calendar year in which he reaches 59
MASTER III: From January 1 in the calendar year he reaches 60 and up

Women
OPEN: 14 +
SUB-JUNIOR: 14-18
JUNIOR: From January 1 in the calendar year she reaches 19 through the full calendar year in which she reaches 23
MASTER I: From January 1 in the calendar year she reaches 40 through the full calendar year in which she reaches 49
MASTER II: From January 1 in the calendar year she reaches 50 and up

  1. Does the IPF have a published list of the meets in Germany this summer? I will be in Germany this summer and would love to compete. I am a drug free lifter and have lifted in raw as well as meets using equipment.
