Hack squat machine calf raises can be performed with your feet flat on the hack machine pressing surface, or with a sturdy wooden block resting on the pressing surface. A block will allow for a greater range of motion.

With your toes and the balls of your feet firmly planted on the pressing surface, or on the wooden block, press down and raise your body up. Focus on pushing and contracting with the calves. After you reach peak contraction, gently lower your heels back down, and repeat.

You may perform this exercise with your knees locked, or slightly bent.
