Billy Cobham is the man you're looking for!!! He's the most incredible drummer I've ever heard. He plays with a stupendously large kit & he makes every symbol sing with total ease.

I wish I could post some video's up, but I'm having problems with my YouTube connections for some weird reason, but the video I'd post up would be Freddie Hubbard's "Straight Life" album, or maybe Thelonius Monk's "Underground" album, or even something from Oscar Peterson, "Sandy's Blues" or his version of "Summertime". I truly hope so, as long as I can still play music & lift weights!

I remember hearing these great musicians for the first time, Cobham, McLaughin, Dizzy, Dave Leibman on sax to name a few, I remember quite clearly being frightened. I was genuinely frightened at just how incredible these guys were.

No amount of training/education got them that good, it was pure feeling, love & emotion for the art they are creating.

I'm also an avid funk listener too, I'm listening to Sly & The Family Stone as we speak.
