Smolov
Introductory Microcycle

Week 2

Squats
1 x 5 - 140kgs

as a lead up to the required reps for today i did
1 x 8 - 60kgs
1 x 5 - 100kgs
1 x 3 - 110kgs
2 x 2 - 120kgs

Deadlift
1 x 10 - 60kgs
1 x 5 - 100kgs
1 x 5 - 120kgs
1 x 3 - 140kgs
1 x 1 - 180kgs
1 x 1 - 200kgs PR

Strict Military Press
1 set at 60kg as many as possible - 14

Notes
Set of 5 at 140kg nearly killed me.
Wanted bench after that but the racks were taken so said id deadlift as I haven’t in a while.
Really happy with the new PR.
This was a short term goal of mine for some time , next stop 5PPs

Nice to see you pulled the 200kg..

You must have more in the tank as im sure your back was fatigued after the squats beforehand!

Good session!

Amazing that you made that 200kg after a tough squat session. Intro to Smolov looks difficult, I hope you've stocked up on meat and Deep Heat

As for playing it by ear, the best thing about Smolov (besides turning you into a wrecking ball) is that you can decide whether or not you want to do extra work because the squats alone are plenty and you won't feel guilty if you go home after those.

Congrats on that PR Mark, that's a huge milestone indeed. How is your body feeling and how are you liking the training so far? Lastly, how is the latest addition to your family?
