Killed it and killed it!

Quote:
To summarize, as with all lifts, in choosing between the two you have to consider most of all the reasons for using the lift. You have to ask yourself what you're trying to improve and go from there. For general strength training, I would use the Push Press; the Jerk by comparison is for much more specific uses, in my opinion.

Hope that made sense.
Makes sense.

105 (48) x 2

Back Squats Olympic-style
170 (80) x 5

170 (80) x 5

Chin-ups Jump-rope between sets.
BW x 5
BW x 5
BW x 5
BW x 5 Rep PR!
BW x 3.5

Conditioning/Cool-down
Stretching

Notes
This was a satisfying come-back from last Snatch session. I wanted to go a little higher, but 105 was pretty much all I was gonna get. It turned out that 105 was still 5 lbs higher than last weeks doubles, so it worked out well. Squats still feel fine. Got some extra love on Chin-ups today. My body weight is around 205, so it's coming down slowly. Nice and healthy in my opinion.

I want to increase the frequency of my pressing, so I'm making some programming changes that I'll detail shortly.

Ok, here it is:

A1
Snatch - singles, work up to max
Front Squat - 3 sets of 5
Press - 3 sets of 8
Incline Bench Press - 3 sets of 8

B1
Clean and Jerk - singles, work up to max
Chinups - 3 sets of as many reps as possible
Barbell Rows - 3 sets of 5
Sit-ups - 5 sets of 15

DAY OFF-REST

A2
Snatch - 8 sets of doubles with 80% of A1 max
Back Squat - 3 sets of 5
Press - 3 sets of 8
Incline Bench Press - 3 sets of 8

B2
Clean and Jerk - 8 sets of doubles with 80% of A1 max
Chinups - 3 sets of 5 with added weight
Barbell Rows - 3 sets of 8
Sit-ups - 5 sets of 15

DAY OFF-REST

A3
Snatch - 7 sets of triples with 70% of A1 max
Front Squat - 3 sets of 5
Press - 3 sets of 8
Incline Bench Press - 3 sets of 8

B3
Clean and Jerk - 7 sets of triples with 70% of A1 max
Chinups - 3 sets of 5 with added weight
Barbell Rows - 3 sets of 8
Sit-ups - 5 sets of 15

Summary of Changes
  • Increased frequency of the push and pull lifts.
  • Increased reps with those movements to add some size throughout my upper "rack".
  • Switched out Push Press for Press (strict standing military)
  • Progression will be linear on all lifts until cycling intensities becomes necessary.
  • A1 pushes for a new 1RM in the competition lifts and the rest of the "week" uses that max for calculation. (No change from before.)
  • Chinups on the first day will be body weight only for max reps. On the second day weight is added when 5 reps can be completed.
