With that said, one of my problems at my last meet was my tremors. The rear judge red lighted me because he said the bar sunk into my chest after pausing. I blame my tremors for that. Perhaps more or all puased benching would help me with that.
Its worth a try. Just so you know its just not my opinion, I have talked to JM Blakely a few times over email and he really advocates pause work also. He feels that it really brings up explosive work and recruits all muscle fibers. To me it just makes sense. If your judged on it then it makes sense to practice it. Throw in a lockout exercise and your covered.

Good stuff, Mike. Interesting thought on pause benching.

My daughter always seems to gravitate to my lifting, not so much the boy though. Still, you never know.

Only in the sport of powerlifting does the logic of practicing something diffrent than you compete in seem to apply. I coached football in the Marine Corps and I should have had my backs practice the option with a frisbee and we could save the ball for the games. Save their CNS.

Thumbs are toughening up. Really like that hook grip.

Awesome pulls today Mike!! I have neverr tried hook grip for deads. I tried hook once on Cleans and did not like it for them, but I may like it for deads.
Squat looked the usual great!

Haha - also liked your analagy with the frisbee! You've convinced me. I will check with JB to see if/when I should incorporate this into the program.

Thank you sir. Dont let me screw up what your doing. JB obviously knows his stuff. I am just throwing out some food for thought from some of my experiences. Pick and choose and find what works for you. I just started being a little skeptical of practicing basketball on a 8 foot goal and saving the 10 for the game logic.

Indeed Mike! The last thing I am going to do is screw up the program, so I will check with him. At any rate, it is something I want to try at some point, especially awhile before my next meet in May. I really think this just may be a good answer to some of my bench problems at meets. I definitely think it's something I need to practice alot more.

Thanks again for your wisdom - I just love your journal.
