Mike, I'm just throwing this out there. I didn't realize you had your pec problem when close benching until just now. But you know, there is something there. When you bring your hands in you are nowhere near as stable as when you normal grip in my opinion.

I've been watching you bench for a while now and I can see a difference when you bench close or normal. Your normal grip is killer obviously. But bring your hands in and you get a lot of body movement side to side, almost like a balance issue. I can see where a really heavy close grip could unduly stress one side or the other.

If I had skills, I'd pull your videos and run them side by side, but I'm thinking maybe you feel that way too if you think back on it? If so, extra stress on one side woud be not so good. If you think not, then ignore what I saying as someone trying to help who has no idea what he is talking about.

Just thinking out loud based on memory.

Could be. I hit a pretty easy 365 PR Close Grip the week before so maybe that had something to do with it. No worries, either way. I was able to progress on my overhead while it healed so not a total loss.

Thanks Mab. First time I have Oly lifted in 2 months and it felt better than when I was going full time. Once a week may be the answer for me!
