11/04/2009: Quads
Workout Time: 40 minutes Workout Grade: A Post-workout nutrition...2 Advil. No, this isn't a bad ending to a bad day. It's a good ending to a good day. And a good workout. There's something utterly enjoyable about taking yourself to the ledge, 20 stories up, and doing a 20 rep set of squats. Of course, I'm not that insane, but that's what it felt like today. Cutting. Cutting. I hate cutting. I was hungry and tired entering my workout, and just wanted to get it over with. But as always, 10 minutes in, I feel like Godzilla destroying Tokyo. And today, Godzilla...or Quadzilla, wanted to do a 20 rep set of squats. I hadn't done a 20 repper in over 6 months, and doubted I would be able to finish. But I wanted to try. And I tried...and succeeded. And my quads loved me. But oh, the back pump. Someone get me a spinal surgeon. My back bump was otherworldly, and by the time my heavier squats were finished, I had a pounding sinus headache as well. But I was on the brink. In the zone. And I was thriving off pain. I loved it. Temporary insanity. The more pain, the better. I spat in the face of pain, and used it as motivation to finish. It was as if the Devil himself was crying for me to give up, and I kicked his ass. All this in 40 minutes. I love the iron game. 'Nuff said. Squats 225 x 20 Squats (60 seconds rest between sets) 315 x 2/2/2/2/2/2 Leg Extensions 60 x 20/10/10/10/10/10/15
