That certainly can be normal. When I started doing rack pulls mine were weaker than my deads.

Good to know I am normal!

I also had to do many more ramp/warm up singles than I do with deads. If I had too big of jumps, I always missed or failed that rep.

Strong pulls. When I used block pulls around 6 inches over summer I was weaker than off the floor, didn't expect that at all.

Good work buddy! Personally, I deadlift roughly the same from the floor as from below the knee because I am strong off the floor but have issues in the lockout. I guess it depends on your strengths really.

I know you said 'experts' but I had to chime in

Yeah, that first pull off the pins is beastly. You get used to it though.

Good stuff Markie.

Weights vary on rack pulls depending on the height and how that affects your leverages. I can pull less from certain heights than I can from the floor I think. Concentrate on maintaining your form as it would be from the floor, think about the aim for the pulls and what you want to get from them and adjust heights and weights accordingly.

thanks for the help Al,

i really like the part ive highlighted. Too many people wanna do huge rack pulls and forget that its supposed to be helping your actual deadlift numbers!
