Ever fancied moving up north? I could do with a motivating training partner.

Thanks markie, they sure are. Most of the course finish today so it's pub this afternoon. Having only drank once this year I may be in for an early night .

06/06/12 - Bench I

Bench
Paused-ish/when concentrating
40kg x 7, 60kg x 5, 80kg x 1 @7, 90kg x 1 @8, 100kg x 1 @8

105kg x 1 @9
107.5kg x 1 @8(TnG)/9.5/9.5

90kg x 3 x 3 @8/8/8

BTNP
30kg x 5 @6

40kg x 5 x 2 @8/8
40kg x 8 x 2 @8.5/9

BB Shrugs
60kg x 10 @6

100kg x 12 x 3 @8/8.5/9
60kg x 45 (No straps)

Not a bad session for a rough morning. First 107.5 forgot to pause but the press was easy, the rest were tough. Back offs were light to concentrate on getting some things right, still weren't amazing.

For bench I plan to have another week with paused singles and then move to some paused doubles, I think grinding some second reps out will help the bench and also help with getting the RPE's right.

Nice work J. As for the RPEs, 9.5 is pretty much when you'd fail the lift if someone stuck an extra pound on the bar! IMO of course.

Thanks Kuyt. I avoid thinking of RPE's in terms of poundage but more reps. A 9 would be 1 more rep in the tank and 10 no reps, so for me a 9.5 is a 0.5 probability of making another rep; so a a real grind of a next rep. If someone had stuck an extra pound on I would have likely made the lift but either way a double would have crushed me. Like you say, IMO; RPE's are all relative so as long as you stay consistent they can work.

Also, I survived the afternoon pub am now Liverpool bound. Will check out logs tomorrow if I'm capable.

Glad to see you're sticking with the paused reps. I wish I would have started using them long ago.

Trying to, they're tough so hopefully some benefit to them.
