Thanks LtL. About a thumbs length from the smooth. Never done any close grip work before so it was just a guess and felt comfortable.

Yeah that's fine. I ask because lots of guys go ultra narrow and then drop the exercise because their wrists hurt. Thumb from the smooth tends to be inside shoulder width which is what you need to take your chest out of the lift.

Thanks for the advice LtL, wouldn't be comfortable going much further in and I noted today that my grip was just inside shoulder. I'll have a proper check on it next week, all felt good and strong today.

Thanks BtB. Been working with my dad on the garage roof all weekend, earning my keep.
Thanks markievicz .Been a tough weekend working non-stop, all overhead too after push press session. Was up at 5am today to see my sister off back to Japan and hit the gym for deadlifts just now.

09/01/12 - Deadlift 3x3 + Singles
Deadlifts 60kg x 5 80kg x 5 100kg x 3 110kg x 3 130kg x 3 145kg x 3 160kg x 1 175kg x 1 185kg x 1 Squats 75kg x 10,10,10,10,10 Side Bends/Leg Raises 25kg/0 x 15/10, 15/10 The singles have returned! The BDFPA finally got the dates up for the NW divisional and so, providing my membership clears and is returned in enough time, I shall be competing on the 28th of January. This is also the day after my last exam so I am making no special preparations, just working up to my openers next week, then taking a deload the week before and driving up the morning of. The only decision I need to make is whether to lose a few pounds and cut a little water before down to 90kg or eat like an animal and go for the 100kg! I will no doubt start a thread for any advice for the day as I really have no idea what will be going on.

i was in the same position as you as regards weight - i decided to enjoy xmas and go in for the 100kg class! great idea for a thread as ill be also needing this type of info. for my vote i say eat like an animal and go for the 100kg class... last thing you need on the day are Ghosts in your head nagging on about the recent calorie deficit |
