The best reason I can give is eating like an animal and working my ass off. I've put a lot of effort into the assistance work to gain some good mass which is probably one of the biggest factors. Apart from that; Hatebreed, Slayer and Metallica all contributed greatly this week .

No real work this week as I feel way too beat up. I strained my shoulder a few weeks ago getting used to low bar position with squats. I think I was trying to force my grip too close to keep my upper back tight. I've since found a much more comfortable position and grip which doesn't strain my shoulders at all but my shoulder hasn't had chance to get back to 100%. Few other joints feeling a bit rough too so nothing but light mobility/prehab work and lots of foam rolling this week.
Next week will be in my garage so nothing more than around 120kg as I can't afford to upgrade my standard bar to an olympic bar. The cost of plates is tooo much and I can't seem to convince my dad to help out. So next week will be more of a deload. Hopefully I'll be in an ok gym for the first week of the new year and get to start moving real weight again before I head back down to Manchester.

It has been quite a lazy 2 weeks for me. The shoulder is almost feeling 100%, I just don't want it to flare up again. Icing/heating and mini band exercises have been helping a lot, was just hoping for it to be fully recovered after 2 weeks.
Anyway, will be heading to a local bodybuilding gym tomorrow, the owners have been quite successful this year from what I've heard as masters I think. I am certainly not looking forward to deadlifts but I am going with the intention of smashing a 3pps rep record.

Heal up hombre. I had the same issue from squats. Don't sweat the arm position. I do wide, wide and wide and save my shoulders.

03/01/12 - Deadlift 3x5
Deadlift Overhand 60kg x 5 80kg x 5 95kg x 3 105kg x 5 (+loose belt) 120kg x 5 140kg x 10 rep PB Squats 70kg x 10,10,10,10,10 Side Bends/Planks 25kg/BW x 15/60secs, 15/40secs Not a bad first day back, strength was not the limiting factor though. Felt like I was running a marathon but still, quite pleased with everything. I'm hoping for a lot of rep PB's over the next few months, that is my short term goal in the gym until I stall on 5/3/1. On a side, this next week I'm at a local bodybuilding gym. I got funny looks today because I have no arms and lifted things from the floor. The owners are nice people and train people properly with heavy compounds and progression but similar to forums it falls on deaf ears. The husband, son and possibly wife qualified for the NABBA Universe competition in 2011, pretty sure that's right. Some quite gruesome back pumps right now and jelly legs but all in all a good day.
