Week 3, Monday, 10-17-11
Squat 120, 150, 180, 210, 240
Bench 120, 150, 180, 210, 240
Row 65, 80, 100, 115, 130
W.Hypers (2x5) 35, 35
W.Situps (3x10) 25, 35, 35

Squats are feeling very heavy and I had to grind out my last rep with less than stellar form. I don't think I've eaten enough this week and I also failed to take enough rest between the last 2 sets of squats. I will hit my old 5RM next week. The rows are honestly a little too light, but since I'm progressing, I'm not gonna mess with it.

I weigh once a week (same time and day) and I've lost half a pound from last week. In fact, this is the first week out of the last 3 that I haven't gained weight. I thought the weights were feeling a little heavy this week. I didn't think I was eating enough this week and I was right. FOOD, beware!

Week 3, Wednesday, 10-20-11
Squat 120, 150, 180, 180
OHPRess 90, 105, 125, 140
Deadlift 205, 245, 285, 325
Pulldowns (3x8) 9, 10, 11
Cble Crunch (3x10) 17, 17, 18

Got all the deadlift reps, but my grip almost failed on the last rep. My palm-down hand. I don't think I wrenched it on tightly enough.

Great session J. Is this the first time deadlifts have given you grip issues?

This is the first time I've had grip issues doing this 5x5 workout. Up until now, I've used the "wrenching" grip that I found in an article on this site. Prior to 5x5 (the last 3 weeks), I've only had grip issues using 350 and up for 2-3 reps.

Hopefully it was just a fluke. Do you train at home or at a commercial gym?

Before the 5x5 I wasn't in the habit of doing that many reps. Maybe my grip isn't quite used to it yet.

I work out in a commercial gym. It's not a franchise. The same married couple has owned and ran it for 20+ years.
