So I received an email last night:
"Congratulations you have quaified for the BDFPA World Championships in Glasgow full details attached please send no money to me pay at the venue ensure the entries are sent to me by the 1st October." Aside from the horrendous punctuation and lack of formality about it (I was hoping for a grand invitation - this is to represent England at the world championships after all!) I'm really glad to have finally received my invite. But this means that it's well and truly game time. I NEED that world record squat, I NEED to hit a 660 total. I have to admit, with only 10 weeks left till the event and thus 9 or so weeks of training this is going to be difficult. I see potential in my deadlift - the 250 wasn't as crazy difficult as I was expecting so I can see me hitting 255 in a few weeks leaving 260 for the comp perhaps. I'm confident about my bench, 155 felt strong so with the intense training I'm doing for it I can see me having a 160. The squat, on the other hand, might be tough - 232.5 was really intense and I still need 7.5kg on that in 9 weeks. Doesn't sound a lot, but every little kg adds more strain. I also don't find squatting at a comp helps much, as I'm nervous as hell and just focused on making the lift, not going balls out. My third attempt at the Euros might see that change. So, nine weeks to go, might spend some time tomorrow writing out everything leading up to the worlds. Its' going to be big, it's going to be intense. I'm excited. Game on.
