![]() Funny, but if I were making an over the top routine to bring up my particular weakness, which is my back, this routine seems perfect as it hammers your back and would perhaps be perfect for me. You, however, already have a pretty damn strong back, it's your press that arguably needs more work. You have a fair amount of pressing, but not as much as you are pulling and squatting. Just a thought. Obviously, it depends on your particular body responses. If only two of six days for heavy pressing emphasis works best for you to bring up your press, then there you go. Done deal. Just saying, you're already a good deadlifter, but does this routine do enough to bring up your relatively "weaker" lifts, is what I'm wondering. Seriously, I'm obviously not an expert at anything. And no disrepect meant at all, just thinking out loud about a very interesting routine that I intend to try some day, and wondering if my thoughts are helpful for you. Crush it! Looking forward to where this takes you.

![]() I actually believe that my deadlift can be so much better. My off the floor strength is quite good and since I have actually focused on the lift for the first time in my life, it has gone up around 35kg in 6 months, only half of this time was spent doing heavy singles. My CGBP will also be testing so that's 2.5 heavy pressing days ![]() I also consider my squat to be extremely weak and this will be addressed. Many experienced lifters suggest that pull should outweight push by 3:2 I'm actually confident that my bench will go up towards the 130kg mark by the year's end, 107.5kg feels comfortable now. A 2.5kg increase per month would comfortably meet that goal by the end of 2012. A 100kg push press is not out of the question either. Last edited by Kuytrider; 02-19-2012 at 05:39 AM. |

Thanks mate!
![]() Sunday 19 February Squat bar warm up 60x5 80x3 100x2 115x1 125kgx1: This felt good and got good depth (recorded it for my archives). Was tempted to go up to 130kg but decided not to even though it will be 2 weeks before I go heavy singles again. The plan is to hit 125kg again in 2 weeks then go for 127.5kg. If that is ok, I will use 127.5kg as my new reference point. Pleased to comfortably handle a weight that pinned me a few weeks back and even felt heavy last week. Using a belly breath really helped I felt. 107.5kg: 5 x trebles These were hard but got really good depth. Good Mornings 65kg: 3x5 Focused on form and it felt fairly light. CGBP 50x5 60x3 75kg: 3x5 Not bad at all Abs Rope pulldown Pin 20(max): 2 x 10 pin 16: 1 x 10 pin 18: 1 x 10 Just testing the lower weights and pin 16 was very light indeed Russian Twists with dumbbell 12.5kg: 4x10 Overall, solid session. |

Good good. Got in, hit the baseline, did good work, and got out.

Nice going Kuyt, feeling comfortable under 125kg is a good day, learning to breath properly made a massive difference for me.

Monday 20 February Rack Pull (Top of bar was at top of knee, lowest available notch on the rack). 80x5 100x3 120x2 140x1 160x1 170x1 - PR 170x1 - First one almost failed because of grip (and I was using wraps). Second one was without wraps and was better. I think this is my established baseline. 140kg: 5 x trebles Pretty comfortable as it should be. Because the pulls are from the knee, this really doesn't cause me any strain at all barring with the grip. Shrugs Tried these dynamic but still with deadlift grip ![]() 80x5 120x5 (Did these with Rack pulls) 110x5x3 -Good. 115kg next week Lat Pulldown Pin 11: 3 x 5 Wanted to do 1 arm row but all benches were taken so I did this instead. Not too bothered as my accessory work is all interchangeable anyway. Think I should invest in Versa Gripps! Decent workout again. Heavy(ish) weights being lifted but it's not killing me (yet).
