Thanks Prof!
Good idea! Should help my press while warming me up nicely for the deadlift. Quote:
No. I changed to conventional last week. I find sumo good for singles/doubles and conventional better for grinding out reps. That said I have done 150x5 sumo. Thanks Steve. Hard work! Thanks Mark. Tough but rewarding.

![]() Saturday 21 July I guess you could say today was an unscheduled session of win. Squats 60x5 75x5 90x5 105x5 120 (264) x 5 PR 92.5x8 Was 'supposed' to do 3 reps but they felt good and I hungered for a squat PR so I went and got it. Last reps were tough but I held it together. Aiming to hit the same again on Tuesday. Pendlay Rows 45x5 60x5 70x5 80x5 90x3 70x8 Top weights were 2.5kg high because I had to use a spare olympic bar that inexplicably wouldn't allow 1.25kg plates to fit on ![]() Bench 50x5 62.5x5 75x5 87.5x5 100 (220) x 3 80x8 Bit tired by now. Triple wasn't easy but I am in the frustrating zone where I can make 3 reps @ 100kg any time I want but hitting 4-5 is another matter. Strange lift is the bench. Leg Curl: Pin 11: 3 x 8 Weighted Dips + 15kg 3 x 8 Hammer Curls 25 (55) x 6 - 3 sets Lower volume day tomorrow.

@Ravi: I'm playing it slow and steady with continued progress in a bid to increase confidence. I'm just getting attuned to my current lifts so being overly aggressive is not a good idea for me. I have made such mistakes in the past. I'm aiming to hit 120x5 again on Tuesday and then raise to 122.5 if successful. 140x5 is an end of year goal. That would represent 8 increases and there are 22-23 weeks left. It's a marathon not a sprint but thanks for your support ![]() Sunday 22 July A 'sensible' session turned into a nice rewarding one. Squats 60x5, 80x3, 100x2 110x1, 117.5x1 125 (275) x 1 - Easy money (for a change) if I'm being honest. Aiming to be a touch more upright to avoid falling forward. Good bar control today. Walkouts 165kg - 3sets of 15 second holds - May stay here for a bit. This was not easy to walkout but holding it was fine. Some guy asked me before my second attempt if I needed a spot I explained what I was doing and he said it was a good idea.Paused Squats 85x5 85 (187) x5 - These are no joke! Power Clean/Push Press 45x5, 60x3, 65x2 72.5x1, 77.5x1, 82.5 (182) x 1 - Just about pushed past lockout. 65x5 - Just one clean and 5 straight push press reps Paused bench 80 (176) x 3 - 5 sets Chins 6, 5, 4 The Bear ![]() 3 sets of 6 reps @ 30kg Are you meant to go one rep of each or six reps of each one individually before moving on to the next? I did the latter for the final set only. It is no easier! ![]() Crunches holding 15kg weight overhead 3 x 10 Food and perhaps a walk to a local museum in a short while
