I know my brother pulls conventional and he gets the same either with belt or without a belt. But he has had some luck wearing the belt higher up, which might be something to consider.
Thanks Fazc, I would like to keep the belt for the sets of five. I did see a video where the guy wore the belt very high, almost touching chest high. I think I'm going to play around with belt placement the next few weeks until I find a sweet spot.

after doing a 220x20 set last week i can fully appreciate how tough that 245x20 was for you.

great going
Some kids ask for money or a used car for their 16th, I ask for a custom made log. One thing to think about is that those 20 reps just get harder each week!

Thanks J, I've never really found a sweet spot. Over the next few sessions though that's what my main focus shall be.

And yes just another day in the garage!

What kind of belt do you use?

If you think it would be ineffective if worn any looser, have you tried lowering or raising where you wear it a bit? A few inches either way may be lest restricting on your breathing yet still provide adequate support.
Thanks Josh, I wear a toro training belt. The problem is when I lower it anymore it pinches the hell out of my side causeing huge whelps. Any higher and it doesn't work as well, but yes will be playing around with placement.

Awesome work as usual!

Ever try turning your belt backwards? I found turning the buckle to the back made deadlifting in my belt a lot less painful. Also, I found that without a belt, I need to take a very deep breath, but with a belt, I don't take such a big gulp of air. I've also had success cinching the belt really tight and not taking a breath at all. Just a couple thoughts.

Damn those are big deadlifts. Do you go hell for leather and straight into each rep or give yourself a moment to compose before each rep?

Thanks Mike, really like the idea. I have done that before for log pressing, I may have to give that a try.

Thanks Kuyt, I always go pretty fast between reps but make sure that the bar comes to a dead stop on the floor. I will do that for the first few reps until I start to strain pretty hard then I may take a few moments longer. For example for the first 3 reps on the set of 5 that took about 10 seconds if that. That last two reps took about 20 seconds, I mean I was able to take my belt off and throw it to the side.

Notes: Was pretty happy with squats tonight. I did want to go heavier with my 5x10 squats but I didn't want to be an all out effort set, so I dropped it down to 225. I could have done it with 275, but wasn't really in the mood to do that kind of work right now.

Only reason I did the jumps and walkouts because I wanted to do more leg work but couldn't think of anything off the top of my head. Will have more to do next week.

Everything after the first 3 sets of squats only had 30sec-1min between sets.
