Sz: honestly I haven't been on a scale in several weeks. However a lady at church said she hardly recognized me with the loss of inches and the new haircut (basically just had a #1 buzzcut on the back & sides and top trimmed to match)

Friday 6/16/11
SpeedySqwats


Today I opened with a few mins on the bike and some leg swings. Next came:

Zercher Squats (W/U): 45/5 45/5 95/5 135/5
Zercher Squats (Speed): 185/2 205/2 215/2 215/2 215/2
More Zerchers for Speed: 225/2 225/2 225/2 235/2 235/2
Partial Zerchers: 335/3
Leg Curls: 225/10 225/10 225/7
Standing Cable Crunches; 180/10 180/10 180/7

So the weight went up across the board. The last 2 sets of speed squats were brutal, and the partials at 335 were pure evil (but up 10lbs from last week). The leg curls were a PR and I almost got 3x10 on my cable crunches before the agony overcame the strength of my 'lower abs'

Overall a win of a workout

(Accidentally had a duplicate post in here).

So went with Mrs. A to see X-Men: First Class tonight. Very good film. Really liked Kevin Bacon's character in it too. I really enjoyed my wife's reaction when Hank's concoction backfired on him... she didn't know who he was in the first 3 films. I didn't want to spoil it for her (I knew who he was, and I figured what was going to happen when he injected that concoction, but I wasn't about to spoil her enjoyment of it).

All in all a very good movie. However, when getting back out of the car after the movie, the abs decided to cramp up again. I guess that means I *definitely* worked them hard enough

Yeah, I know that feeling! Funny how a really good hard workout will sneak up on you later in the day! You feel great after the workout, but then cringe trying to tie your shoes later, or that jolt of pain reaching back to grab your seatbelt to buckle up.

My wife constantly heckles me about how I can move big weights in the gym confidently, but groan in agony when I have to get up off the couch to take the trash outside.

Mike,

It was a bit more dramatic than that. I was getting out of the car, and then my abs started spasming painfully trying to draw themselves into a ball. I immediately tried to jerk my torso straight up and grabbed the pained area.

My wife thought I was having a heart attack. I whispered, "noo, ab cramps!"

After she got over the shock she thought it was pretty damned funny.
