Yeah buddy you picked a good deadlift cycle. Worked well for Max, I didn't finish it but I still did good with my deadlifts at my meet, wish you well!

Thanks, Swede. Given the pec DOMS I've got today (I haven't gotten pec DOMS from benching in awhile) and the speed I had coming off the bottom, I'm thinking that this will definitely help my bench shoot to higher levels. I just have to be careful and keep the shoulder healthy.

Mixing Squats and Pressing - Oh My! Today I'm trying to shoehorn both a DE Squat and Press/DE Bench into a single session. I've got less than hour before the wife tells me I've got to be on the road, so we'll see where it gets me. I warmed up with some leg swings then went with: Zercher Squats (warmup): 45/5 45/5 95/5 135/5 Zercher Squats (speed): 185/2 205/2 205/2 205/2 205/2 Zercher Squats (partials): 275/3 - video forthcoming Standing Press (warmup): 45/5 95/3 Standing Press (5@65%): 130/5 Standing Press (5@75%): 150/5 Standing Press (5+@85%): 170/9 Rep PR Speed bench: 205/1 And that's it. The squats felt really good and wore me out, but I did not have time to do a proper bench warmup. Note to self: never ever try to go straight into a 200lb bench without a proper warmup. I didn't injure myself, but my shoulder did yell at me "what the fark?!". At that point I decided discretion was the better part of valour, so I ended it there. So I am now off the grid until monday, when I will smash some deadlifts. |
