I saw the video earlier yesterday and was very impressed. Now I know you did that weight for 3 sets, I'm MEGA impressed. Great progress Jim.

240 for reps and sets is a major accomplishment Jim, you just seem to get stronger and stronger

You are an ispiration buddy how you are working around the troubles and doing the dips completely pain free is a sure sign that things are going well in the recovery department

Good stuff Jim

Thanks Carl I'm glad I can pay it forward in the inspiration dept - as you know you inspire me everyday mate.

My low back is getting better. I'm now thinking about 4 weeks and I hope to begin deadlifting again. I have a major announcement coming WRT my deaadlifting.

Wow - how did you find that? That guy is using the exact step I have. I never thought of doing them Sumo on the step. That step doesn't have enough support in the middle to dead heavier weight, but it does at the ends. Thanks a million for that Al!!

PUSH PRESS 07/17/11

Best day ever for OHP. I'm really proud of this session and I couldn't be happier. I really think the absence of deads in my routine is making my other lefts stronger. Don't get me wrong, deads will always be my fave lift and I can't wait to start doing them again, but I am really beginning to think that only doing them every 2 weeks or perhaps skipping them for a couple of weeks or a cycle is a good thing - only because heavy a$$ deads beat the crap out of a lifter.

Push Press
180 X3 PB +5 lbs I have never repped 180 before see Vid.
180 X4 See Vid. Damn it, I wanted 4 reps, so I went and got it.
180 X3
155 X5

BHTNP
125 X6 PB +5 lbs
125 X5
115 X6
115 X5

BB Shrugs
315 X10
315 X10
315 X12
315 X15
Had to be extra careful with these. Last time I did shrugs, they hurt my back - not the actual shrugging, but the initial lift off of the bar and the return of the bar to rest on the rails when done the set. I practiced today with the warmup sets and got it. I discovered if I am super tight when I initially lift the bar off of the rails, and use my legs and put weight on my heels, I am good to go. WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO

Pull Ups
Alternate wide, close, and chin grips - 4 sets of each. Did these as fast as I could, I'd say 1 min or less rest between sets. I'm really please with these numbers as it is a +6 rep improvement over last week. Not too shabby for a 228 lb dude.
4,4,4,2,3,3,3,3,3,3,3,3. 38 Reps Total

Face Pulls
85 X8 PB +5 lbs
85 X9 PBR Got mad, wanted 10 reps
85 X11 PBR

Lateral Raises
25 X8 PB +5 lbs
25 X8

Cardio
Killed this today as well
10K (6.2 Miles)
52:57 Knocked 3:03 off of last time AND at a higher difficulty level.

Awesome progression Jim. Just think not long ago you said you weren't that strong a presser. Not true now. Well done.

What about a couple of plates under the step to support it in the middle?

Thanks Al It was about 1 year ago my PP max was 125, when I started 531. So, its been progression of 55 lbs + 3 reps in one year, for a a lift I struggled with all my life. 2 PPS will be a very, very special lift for me - right up there with a 500 deadlift.

I'll try that suggestion when I restart deads. You always have such great ideas

BTW, I'll have a major announcement WRT my deadlifting tomorrow. And no, I won't be starting them again, but the news is in regards to how I will be doing them when I start again.

Damn, Jim, you're rapidly closing in on that 2PPS push press. Who woulda thunk!
