deload, deload, deload!!!!!!!

Nothing wrong with taking a down week Jim, you have to listen to your body. This coming week I wouldnt do anything except stretches, foam rolling, and any lifting I would do it seated. Bench, military press, seated curls, leg ext, hamstring curls. No squat, dead, cleans, or standing movements. Pick your battles wisely!

Well, rack pulls were definitely a no-go tonight. As it turned out, even light speed pulls were not going to happen. I could barely get 135 off the floor LOL. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out my Facet Joint has popped out again. Hopefully I can get in Friday to see my physiotherapist David so he can fix the collateral damage from last week's war.

Thus, rather than leave the JimGym with nothing accomplished, I decided to try my hand at squats and do triples ramp up style. Lower back was mostly OK up until the last set and then it started to squawk. Quite happy I could at least squat up to 3PPS.

I may have to rest up the lower back this upcoming week, as it may take David a couple or more treatments to fix me up. If so, I'll do some light deload stuff, and then start week 8 off fresh. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

So, this is what my squats are like with a wonky back!

Great work Super Jim! Sucks about your back, but it's been a little while since you had an issue with it so that's good. Your plan for takin it easier for a little is wise. Stay strong bud!!!

Thanks Ravi!! 3PPS is always a good weight for squatting, at least for us mere mortals! The problem will be fixed, at least temporarily.

Thanks Alan!! Indeed, and he's a good one who knows me very well. It's pretty much mandatory for all powerlifters to have physio & sports medicine docs on hand! lol

Indeed JB!! I will follow your orders to the letter! Your input is priceless.

Thanks Jay!! Ya, it's been awhile so that is a good sign for sure. I do now have an appt. for April to see the sports medicine specialist to look after my disc narrowing and arthritis in the lower back.

Thanks Mike!! Real cool I survived JB's routine for 7 weeks before needing the deload, and a power surge to crush the remaining weeks until maxing would be sweet.

Will do!!

David was able to fix the lower back yesterday in 1 session thankfully. He did say that 2 Facet Joints were out this time. No wonder I could barely pull 135. Up until now, it's only been 1 problematic Facet Joint. It's hard to believe 1 or 2 tiny bones can bring me down and makes the difference of a 135 pull and a 465 pull. My appt. with the sports medicine specialist is not until April, so I will just carry on as normal until then. The X-rays did show some "Disc Narrowing" and Arthritis in the lower back, of which the specialist will give me more details and treatment.

Pretty sore all over today. I don't think i have ever needed a deload more than I do now. Might hit up some deload bench Sunday or Monday and then some seated OHP after that. As JB advised, I will do nothing standing this week until I start week 8 of the program next Saturday with the Crew.
