WEEK 11 DAY 1

I have now been lifting heavy for 11 weeks straight now. I am thru with heavy 5X5 as I can't take the brutality of it anymore. No regrets tho as it has made me stronger physically & mentally. I didn't really bury anything tonight. I was focusing on depth on all sets of squats, and upon viewing the vids in slo-mo, I thought I hit legal depth for the most part. The last 5X5 set of 380 was so hard, but I got it done. I didn't have much left, but i wanted to do a couple of singles at my potential opening weight for the meet. Even tho I was wasted, I thought I hit legal depth. I tried 2 different stances. I thought I hit a bit better depth on the "narrower" stance. On Saturday, I think I will bring in my stance for my mock meet squats. I think I will be able to hit depth better this way. Up until now it has been all wide stance squats.

I am also not feeling well, as I have caught a cold. My supercharged immune system seems to be fighting off tho. better this week than next I say!! I almost hurled after that last set of 380 squats.

I am quite confident I will nail all my openers on Saturday. Here is a link to the "my first meet" info for the CPU. It appears as though they will be more forgiving on my first lift if I tell them this is my first meet.

WEEK 11 DAY 2 MOCK MEET

Goal today was to bury all squats, nail my opening lifts, and practice commands. Today was not the time to set PR's, as I am not going to get any stronger before the meet. Mission accomplished. Eleven weeks of heavy lifting has given me the tools to succeed at the meet. I am healthy, both mentally & physically, and loaded with more confidence than I could ever hope for. When I first joined the forum just under 3 years ago, I never imagined it would lead to this. I am so very fortunate to be able to compete.

Squats
All Singles:
135
155
185
225
255
285
315
335
350
365
365
385

Bench Press
All were paused. Once again, all singles. At the meet, I may have to pause a second longer, but no problemo.
155
175
195
205
225
240
255
250

Deadlift
All raw singles
225
275
335
385
405
425

Based upon this and my previous lifting, LtL and I have decided my opening numbers will be:

Squat: 365
Bench: 250
Deadlift: 425

After these lifts are nailed, 2nd lifts will be:
Squat: 390
Bench: 260
Deadlift: 440

And finally, after those are nailed, third lifts will be:
Squat: 405
Bench: 270
Deadlift: 455

Total: 1130

First lifts are written in stone. If I am having a particularly strong day, I think I am allowed to change my second and third lifts. However, It is probably best if I stick to this plan. I would be extremely happy with these numbers, especially for a geezer at his first meet. Just getting on the platform before I lift anything is a big accomplishment for me. It's going to be one of the biggest days of my life.

Everything will be a PR, since I will be at an official judged meet.
