Not for me. I have pretty bad carpal tunnel (feeling it right now) and the more work I do the worse it seems to be. I can't say for certain how this translates for you.

With that said, you still should be conscious about warming up your CNS. A single 225 rep might not signal much to your body, but once you hit a 315, 345 and 375 you're CNS is pretty much going to know something's going on.

A nice smooth warmup will help maximize muscle fiber recruitment and might actually help to take some strain off your grip. It's hard to say.

I would at least do 315, 355-365, 405.

Nice session Jimbo.

OK Steve - I will try the 355 to 365 first next week, and if grip is OK I will do some more as you mentioned.

I think I will just do a mix of sumo and conventional singles right after my 531 sets sets. (531 sets will be strapped)Not sure if I should just meet prescribed reps for 531 or not as I will be doing singles, and to mix sumo and conventional singles. Any thoughts?

I agree with Steve. Couple more rep's at intermediate weights will get your CNS firing.

As for your routine this week if you want to do singles, do your prescribed sets as singles and then maybe a couple more.

Great solution there Big Al - consider it done.

I also ordered some liquid chalk, and will contact the federation about the meet to get some details and make arrangements.

The family is all for it now - but likely because the meet is in Vernon. Vernon is in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. It is not difficult to convince anyone to go there. It's only 6 hour drive west thru the Rockies, about halfway to Vancouver. It's a great place to summer vacation. lots of lakes, wineries, and super charged heat - very similar to California.

Awesome can't wait to see you compete, and really good day. After doing more singles your grip will improve very fast.

I am looking forward to it Mab - going to be a great summer this year!!

I hope my grip co-operates - going to be interesting because of the tremors.

Once you compete you will fall in love!

Also not sure if this helps but the way I got my grip strength up was farmers walk and using a fat bar. I've also seen people take a towl and wrap it around a bar for some of the lifts to make it harder hold, those are just ways that helped me.

I downloaded the registration form for the meet. It says equipment for raw is a lifting suit(singlet) and a t-shirt and full length socks are required for deads. Do I have to buy a lifting suit? or is just a t-shirt and shorts OK to wear at meets? I also assume they would allow liquid chalk?

Well, since I'm addicted to lifting, I am sure as well I will naturally get hooked on competing

Great suggestions Mab - I reckon I will order a fat bar as well. Would these blue fat grips be suitable? http://www.roguecanada.ca/catalogsea...ult/?q=fat+bar Could maybe do farmers walks outside in the summer as well, but not sure what to use. I cannot use my bowflex DB's cuz if I drop them they are toast.

Is that you competing in your avatar?

I have never used fat grips but I have heard great things for both those and grip4orce, but I can't speak from personal experience on either.

Also that is me at my last meet in Oct.
