Not a sumo guy but seeing those arms bend during the pull is a concern. I'm going to give you some crazy advice and ask that you consider wearing straps for a few weeks and going double overhanded. Maybe it will help give you a slightly better feel and help untrain that little hitch.
I could be nuts. Just a thought.

Strong work overall Al! I have always liked you speed. I sort of get the feeling that pulling sumo is more techinical than conventional. Hope you can get that arm bend issue sorted quickly.

Stretch Lat pulldowns Light presses CGBP thumb width from the smooth Bar for 3 sets 60kgs x 5 80kgs x 3 100kgs x 2 120kgs x 1 Add slingshot 140kgs x 1 152.5kgs x 1 162.5kgs x 1 PB 14" Box Squats 60kgs x 3 90kgs x 3 120kgs x 3 140kgs for 6 sets of 3 with 1 minute rest Sumo pulls 70kgs x 3 110kgs x 3 Add suit 150kgs for 5 singles Feeling very tired, sore and stiff so did a couple more 160kgs x 1 170kgs x 1 Overall the session was good but it was very much a session of two halves. Bench is feeling ridiculously strong. That press was a PB, it had a legit pause on the chest and it came up fast and smooth. That's only 10kgs off my wide grip PB from when I was 10kgs heavier. This can only be a good thing ![]() Box squats were ok but the new technique sitting down more than back is a challenge. My upper back is very sore from all of the deadlifts and keeping tight coming off the box was a challenge. This will help me in the gear. Then came the pulls. My hips and upper back were sore from the squats and from previous pulls. Even 150 was feeling heavy and although form was ok, bar speed was slower and everything seemed a challenge. Did a few singles, did a couple of moderately heavy singles and called it there. Starting position is ok I think, arms were reasonably straight but I need to pull the bar back more. I'm coming forward as I rise out of the bottom. If I can pull back, lockout should be easier. As always please critique away: Back in on Thursday and doing reps on shoulder pressing, some heavier front squats and some raw pulls for reps to give my poor body a break before the heavy stuff at the weekend.
