Regarding straps, I could never master them. If you ever get a chance, pick up some Versa Gripps. They are easy to use and great for rows.

Deadlift
1x5 60kg 1x5 80kg 1x5 100kg 1x3 110kg 1x5 137.5kg 1x3 157.5kg 1x1 175kg 1x1 190kg 1x1 200kg 1x1 210kg/462lbs 1x0 227.5kg/500.5lbs Deadlifts felt really strong. Missed 227.5kg two or three inches off the floor. I think this might point to weak hamstrings which I'm hoping regular GM's will help with. Military Press 1x5 30kg 1x5 37.5kg 1x3 45kg 1x5 55kg 1x3 62.5kg 1x1 70kg 1x1 80kg 1x1 90kg/198lbs Definitely a PR because I have never maxed out military press before because I've always wanted to save my shoulders for scrummaging and line out lifting but since I have a couple of weeks off I decided to give it a go. 90kg felt solid but I didn't know what I would do if I failed. |

Cardio - Rowing Machine
2 minutes rest between sets. 1 x 500m 1:44.6 1 x 500m 1:53.5 1 x 500m 1:54.9 1 x 500m 1:55.3 1 x 500m 1:56.6 1 x 500m 1:55.8 Total time 6 reps 11:20.5 - Average 500m split = 1:53.4 Took over 10 seconds off my total time. Absolutely flew on the first rep which I paid for on the 5th and 6th rep. 100 Rep Challenge 20 Bar Push Ups 20 BB Row 20 RDL 20 Squat 20 GMs Total time - 160 seconds Struggled with hand position on the bar for GMs. No idea what I was playing at to start with and the bar was moving all over the place. After 7 reps of GMs the urge to just quit was massive, I think you can see it on the video. Next time I will try 40 squats. |

I don't think GMs were a particularly good swap for shoulder press. I looked at Martin Rooney's youtube page and the athletes he does it with look to half rep push press it, maybe I should be less concerned about full range and just concentrate on moving the weight as quickly as I can. |
