Im about to incorporate some changes into my routine. Ive been pushing near failure, low reps, for months now with very little higher rep work in the main compounds, and usually just as a finisher. This approach have been great but recently progression havent been as great as i wished for. Joints and tendons are beginning to hurt so i will lay of this for a while, before injury kicks in.
I will do more periodization, starting monday i will do 4-6 weeks of intenser higher rep work, followed by a short recovery phase (1 week to 10 days), then do heavy low reppers again for 4-6 week, recovery phase and then max out and repeat. More assistance work will be done during the high rep block, and more isolation during the recovery phase. The 4-6 weeks block length is not carved in stone, i will se how i adapt and work from there. Any opinions, ideas or suggestions on this approach are welcome.
