Thanks, Steve. I was upset with my lifts after the squat, so didn't mind leaving when my friend wanted to go, but didn't realize that I could still get Best Lifter anyway.

Next is an RPS meet on January 28th in Newark, NJ. I won't be using any particular program, just doing my own thing, using different variations of the competitive lifts, like bands & chains for the bench and dead, along with important assistance lifts, such as the front squat, GM, RDL, GHR, flat dumbbell bench, rows, pull-ups, etc. I'm also going to be smarter with my attempts, making sure that I get 5lb meet PRs before proceeding heavier. 12.14.11 Grip Rolling Thunder Deadlift: 3 sets of 1 with each hand w/ 120 (not including weight of loading pin and RT handle) ^ I couldn't do a fourth single with either hand. I want to get up to 200 with this.

Bench Press: 5 sets of 2 with 165 + mini long bands Behind-The-Neck Push Press: 4,3,2,2 with 185 ^ PR for the first set Flat Dumbbell Bench Press: 7,6,5 with 85s ^ I can't recall my PR with dumbbells, but this was lower than expected. However, it makes sense because my chest, shoulders, and triceps were becoming fatigued after the barbell bench w/ bands and BTN push press. EZ-Bar Skullcrusher: 3 sets of 5 with 80 ^ This was also a little disappointing because I did 3 sets of 10 w/ 70, a few weeks ago, shortly before the recent meet. I figured it's due to my triceps not having much left after everything done before the skullcrusher. 12.17.11 Deadlift: 0,0,1 with 495 + mini short bands ^ My grip was slipping during the first two attempts. The first single was nearly finished when I dropped it, but the 2nd wasn't as close. I managed to hold on to the bar until the end when I tried a third time. I also tore a chunk of skin out of my left palm during that 3rd one, like the past couple of months. - The successful 3rd attempt was a PR with the mini bands. Romanian Deadlift: 3 sets of 5 with 275 ^ Can you believe that I never did an RDL before today? My hamstrings were very sore for the next 2-3 days, which surprised me because 275 is slightly under half of my 1RM regular deadlift. Pendlay Row: 4 sets of 3 with 275 ^ I didn't realize until afterward that I performed 5 sets of 3 with this weight, about one month ago, along with 4 sets of 2 w/ 285, one week after that. Close-Grip Overhand Pull-Up: 3 sets of 5 with BW+25 ^ This was a new pull-up variation for me. ![]() 12.19.11 Grip Gripper: 1 set of 3 with CoC #2, then 3 partial singles with CoC #2.5 ^ same # of reps/sets for each hand, but closer to closing the 2.5 with my right hand 12.20.11 Pause Squat: 1 set of 1 with 365 (no-belt PR and pause PR) ^ I was essentially testing myself here because I haven't done this squat variation since 2007, if I recall correctly. I'm most likely capable of significantly more because the 365 wasn't a grinder. - After watching the video, I saw that the pause with 365 was not as long as I intended. I will try to stay in the hole for at least another second or two when I do it again. -- Besides not using a belt, I also wore my Chucks for the whole session, during and after the pause squats. The rationale for making the switch from weightlifting shoes is that I probably won't have as much forward lean. Front Squat: 4 sets of 2 with 265 (w/o belt) Bottom-Position Good Morning: 3 sets of 3 with 265 (w/o belt) ^ This was a new GM variation for me. Seated Calf Raise: 3 sets of 12 with 115
