I was just watching the hack lift video and I have a question. Do you think that would help me learn to get my hips in the proper place and prevent my hips from popping up in the deadlift?? It looks to me that this lift would really help me to get into the proper position, what do you think?

Honestly, I think my hips were too high during those three singles. The hack lift is simply another deadlift variation that I'll occasionally do. The purpose is not to improve form when I pull with the bar in front of me. It's just another way to get brutally strong.

08.23.11 One-Hand Dumbbell Swing: 3 singles with each hand (6 total) w/ 90 Bench Press: 4 sets of 2 with 240 ^ After doing the first set, I realized that I was probably capable of triples, but stayed with doubles which was still a PR. Dumbbell Goblet Squat: 3 sets of 10 with 85, then 2 sets of 10 with 105 ^ This was new for me. I'm definitely good for much more. T-Bar Row: 7,7,6,5 with five 45s Standing Angled Calf Raise: 4 sets of 12 with 220 08.24.11 I did some hand extensor training with expand-your-hand bands and then without the bands, using my opposite hand as resistance.

08.26.11 Deadlift: 1 set of 1 with 563 (13lb PR), 1 set of 0 with 585 (almost!) ^ The 563 wasn't a grinder, but I couldn't finish the 585. I couldn't push my hips a little more to lock it out. More ham/glute work needs to be done. It looks like I was capable of 575 or maybe 580. Ultra-Wide Pull-Up: 25,20,15 with BW ^ Along with my lats, this gave me a sick pump in my forearms. ![]()
