Definitely liking the odd lifts tossed in. The Steinborn lift is so much fun, but so awkward, haha, gj on the 254 on it

and yeah, 508x3 was a smoke show.

Thanks, my iron brothers.

08.06.11

Power Snatch: 135x1 (2lb PR), 145x1 (12lb PR)

^ I was successful with 145 on the 3rd attempt with it, getting close and closer on the 1st and 2nd attempts. It wasn't pretty like the 135 because I didn't get under the bar as well, but it wasn't pressed out, so it was still legit.

EZ-Curl Bar Curl: bar+60x8, bar+70x6, bar+80x2

- All of those reps were performed in a strict manner, without leaning forward or backward.

^ This EZ-curl bar was longer than similar bars that I occasionally seen/used in other gyms during the past few years. I don't know the weight of the bar.

Box Jump: a few jumps with two boxes, the 2nd box being significantly higher than the 1st

^ I don't know the height measurements.

Prowler Push: 360+prowler for one very short trip

^ I did progressively heavier pushes, until my final one with eight 45s (360lbs) on the prowler.

- This was the first time that I ever used a prowler and it was fun, but it would've been better if I had more room to push it.

Behind-The-Neck Push Press: 4 sets of 3 with 165

^ This was still relatively easy. I'll probably do 3x3 with 175, next week.

Squat: 1 set of 15 with 315 (1-rep PR)

- This set, like my previous PR of 14 with 315, was performed using the breathing squat method, which allows a lifter to extend the set past 10 by taking a few extra breaths and more time between reps after the first bunch. Many people do a set of 20 in this manner, but I like to gradually get rep PRs until I hit 20 with a particular weight.

^ I probably could've came closer to my goal of 315x20 if I grinded out another rep or two (or more), but I wanted to avoid totally annihilating myself just a few days before I pull a PR deadlift of 2-3 reps with 530, over 96% of my 1RM (550) from this past May.

Reverse Hyperextension: 3 sets of 6 with 70

^ This was a different RH machine because I was lifting at another gym. It was plate-loaded instead of the weight stack. The former felt significantly more difficult than the latter. Hence, I was using much less weight.

Standing Calf Raise: 18,16,14,12,10 with 450

08.09.11

One-Hand Dumbbell Swing: 3 singles w/ each hand (6 total) with 85lbs

Bench Press: 5 sets of 3 with 235

One-Arm Dumbbell Row: 1 set of 40 w/ each hand with 85

^ This was an MAB challenge, one set with as many reps as possible, rowing 0.5x BW with one hand, then the other.

Seated Bent-Over Lateral Raise: 1 set of 5 with 20s

^ My rear delts were fried after the rows, even though the main muscle involved was the lats, so I didn't bother with the 30s which I was intending to use for my work sets.

- I wasn't able to do dips today because my friend was leaving and he was driving me home, so I'll probably do them next session, in a couple of days.

08.12.11

Hang Clean: 0,0 with 160

^ I don't know if using a deadlift bar detracted from my performance, or my mind was only thinking about the deadlift PR which I was intent on getting, but I didn't do well here.

Deadlift: 1 set of 3 with 530 (PR triple)

^ This was a damn good set. I easily got the first two reps, then really struggled toward the end of the 3rd rep, grinding it out and finishing the set with three, all of them being clean (i.e. no hitch or ramp). My previous 3RM was with 495, July of last year, so this is a big improvement.

Pull-Up: 6 sets of 3 with BW+90

^ I was alternating grips, set after set, from overhand to underhand and vice-versa.

- I noticed that I clearly do better with the underhand grip compared to overhand.

Glute-Ham Raise: 3 sets of 12 with BW

Straight-Leg Sit-Up: 10,9,7 with BW+10

^ The 10lb plate was held behind my head.
