Smolov Jr. For Bench (TNG) Cycle 1 Week 2, Day 2 Back Squat, Paused: 4 sets of 1 with 405 Bench Press: 7 sets of 5 with 210 Deadlift: 8,4,2 with 410 ^ I was trying to rep-out (probably 14 or 15) with 410 in one set, for a deadlift contest on LiftersLoot.com, but I clearly didn't have enough left in the tank after the pause squats and bench press. I only managed to get 8, so I decided to throw in a couple more sets after that.

Thanks, but that was nowhere near the amount of reps I wanted to get, based on my best with 405, one year ago. I'll probably try it again, next session that I do the deadlift.

![]() 07.06.12 Smolov Jr. For Bench (TNG) Cycle 1 Week 2, Day 4 Bench Press: 10 sets of 3 with 240 ^ My right wrist was feeling better, but tendonitis in my right elbow became a problem about halfway into the triples. I finished all ten sets by using a liberal amount of Icy Hot throughout the session. I didn't do anything after the bench because the inflammation in my elbow was becoming overwhelming. - This was a very successful workout because I failed the final rep of the final set, one week ago, but did all of it today with 5lbs more. -- I noticed that at least one of my heels were off the floor, but I wasn't intending to do that. I'll try to be cognizant of that, starting next session.

Smolov Jr. For Bench (TNG) Cycle 1 Week 3, Day 1 Power Clean: 4 sets of 1 with 205 ^ failed the 5th - This was done using one of the slightly thicker bars at my gym. I recently noticed that there's also one or two bars which are the standard thickness. I gotta start using that for deadlift, clean, bench, and OHP. Bench Press: 6 sets of 6 with 200 ^ My right elbow was bothering me again, going into this, after the cleans, but I got all the sets/reps for the 6x6, 5lbs more than last week. Reverse Pec-Deck Fly: 9,8,7 with 105 Seated Calf Raise: 22,21 with 90 (plus weight of machine)

07.10.12 Smolov Jr. For Bench (TNG) Cycle 1 Week 3, Day 2 Deadlift: 1 set of 9 with 410 ^ This was my entry for a LiftersLoot.com online competition. - Belts were allowed, but I didn't use one because I wanted to see how many reps I could get without it. It was a no-belt PR, but still not as many as I wanted because I did 13 reps with 405 (5lbs less than the set above), using a belt, July of last year. The last time that I did approximately this weight without a belt for one AMRAP (as many reps as possible) set, without more than 10 seconds rest between reps, was 405x6 in December 2010. -- I also didn't use straps because this was one of the less thick bars. Bench Press: 7 sets of 5 with 215 Squat From Bottom: 3 sets of 1 with 365 ^ My right elbow was okay until these squats. Toward the end, it started to bother me, and then it became excruciating after I finished.
