Haha, like Arnold Presses? They drain my arms dry like crazy, I can do so much more weight for so many more reps on just plan old db presses :/. But they are a great exercise and I really feel them so that's a plus. Plus I feel it's more natural for my arms to twist when going through the motion as opposed to the more traditional curl and press. I've actually in fact developed a penchant for DBs since I started. I didn't get around to getting a spotter to a couple months ago, lets just say, dropping a 100 lb dumbell on your chest is much less debilitating to having to manage to roll 200lbs off you neck.

Also, anyone listen to prog rock while they work out? It's the ****, I like to envision myself as fighting dragons and rescuing fairy princesses to it while I work up a sweat.

Nice deadlifts. Had no clue you were that strong. Great job.

good looking full body workout. I'll be interested to see how it works out for you over time. I have contemplated going to a full body routine at some point just to see how my body responds to it. I used it when I first started lifting and had great results, but I was a noobie and that was expected. I have wondered though how my body would respond to it if I went back to it. I'll be keeping tabs on your progress.

Thanks guys, nah horror, I'm afraid I'm into more over "pussy ****" (genesis, van de graaf, gentle giant etc.)
@Bend I can gain strength relatively rapidly when I'm motivated. Actually I just got off the phone with my dad trying to work out a deal on acquiring weight lifting gear for the summer. He told me he also had a brief bout with weight lifting when he was younger and worked his way up to almost my strength in a comparable amount of time, go figure. @ Ole grunt: Strangely, my arms are the sorest they've been in a while, which is surprising because I only hit them directly about twice per cycle for only 1 set. But then again I've been focusing on muscle synergy trying to using each much in the most efficient way on my compounds. |

I weighed in at 218 lbs with 2 good meals in me and fully clothed
The workout took longer than expected but went good, I think I'll take 2-3 days for recovery this time Front squats - sucked until I tried cross grip (my flexibility interdicted my ability to rest the bar on my chest) - I worked my way up in sets 5 until I reached 225lb, trying to keep myself deep (at least below parrallel in lighter sets) and had a good run, I feel I had more potential in this lift but don't want to do anything stupid until I know how to actually do it. Clean and Press - PRed (I know, I just started 3 sessions ago but I'm still young and full of zest) - I got 225 lbs (with a failure on the press initially .) - I had a sticking point midwqay through the press but I expected so much as my shoulders were still a bit sore on that point. Followed with a DC set of 160s 6/3/2 and omitted shoulders today .Incline Bench Press: 90n lbs - 6 reps followed by and extremely forced 2 reps. This premature failure was probably attributable to killing my shoulders earlier but I also feel like my chest has the most lethargic recovery time, but then again, I've made impressive gains on it in the past with only doing 1 set of db bp per workout. Compound that to the fact I don't really do inclines, and I'm not too disapointed. Pullovers 12/5/3 - 95 pounds - felt good Goodmornings - 135lbs 10/5/3 or something I forget Lunges - 90lbs - until form feel to **** Bent Over row- 225 lbs 6/4/3 Situps 2x12 70lbs Shrugs -315 lbs Drag Curls: 70 lbs 12/6/4 I think that covers it, now to order food and sleep. |
