My legs aren't conditioned to stength yet. I have never put in the hard work to get them there. Therefore, when I workout, my upper body workouts are respectable (relatively speaking) but my leg workouts...well...not so much.
In short...I'm not lifting that heavy yet on my legs yet. That makes it feel like these high volume workouts are not doing much for leg growth. Just making me sore and killing my CNS. The solution, I know, is to back off on my pride...get into the gym on legs day and work on the foundation. Build up the strength I need on my Squats and Deads and then...only then, start really tweaking it and whatnot... Consequently, I'm thinking of doing 1 of 2 things today (today is legs day, the last of the high volume aaaarrrrgggghhhh kill me days for that...) 1. Forget about the high volume legs final workout and go start in on the foundation training we need. 2. Take the day off and let my CNS, etc., recover from the grueling week and then hit legs on Mon. This would mean switching around the split from 1. Chest, 2. Shoulders, 3. Back, 4. Legs...to 1. Legs, 2. Chest, 3. Shoulders, 4. Back. Or...I suppose I could have a third option. Just go finish up the high volume 4x4x9 exercises. Anyhow.... Thoughts? |

Hey Folkprophet, your wife is gorgeous!!
![]() As for your routine, have you thought about going on just a strength routine? If you feel like taking the time off, then take it off. Listen to your body. And if you're thinking of starting that new split with Legs on Monday instead, then wait till Monday. No sense working them today, and then again on Monday, IMO. |

For legs...absolutley. Just a strength routing is it. Unquestionably. That is the ticket. No if, ands or buttocks. As far as the time off thing goes...well...definately wouldn't do legs today and monday. We did legs this last mon because my wife ended up in the Hospital on Fri when we were supposed to be doing legs. So we have actually done legs this week...but it was makeup for last week. We could just consider it that we swapped the split this week. If we do the legs workout today we'd do chest on Mon like normal. I always struggle with the idea of not doing what I'm supposed to be. I mean, it's only a freakin' 4 day split! Only getting in 3 workouts in a week is just sad. It's happens...but I always hate it. I guess in this case we've done 4 workouts this week already...and it was last week we only got three in. Hospital's a pretty good excuse of course. (By the way, for anyone wondering...it was a burst ovarian cyst. Not super uncommon. Not super dangerous. Just hurts like a mutha!)I know I'm rambling on about it a bit. In short, I'm having trouble deciding if I'm considering taking today off because I'm really shot and I ought to be listening to my body or if I'm considering taking today off because I'm wimping out.

Well, feeling frustrated.
We measure/weigh on Sat morning first thing after getting up and emptying the bladder et al... 4 weeks ago my belly measured 32" and I weighed 168. This morning my belly measured 32" and I weighed 168. Grrr. Well...it's not all bad My chest measured 39 a month ago My chest now measures 39.5 My arms measured 14.5 (flexed) a month ago My arms now measure 15 (flexed) Still...I'm supposed to be cutting. CUTTING!!! I'm not gonna complain about the size increase in my arms and chest (obviously). But the point here is to get the jiggle out of my mid section. Anyhow, I'm following the Scivation Cut diet and eating about 2500 calories...low, low carbs, then refeeding with a high carb meal every 3rd day. No cheat meals. They say the cut diet takes 4-6 weeks to really kick in...but nothing? No results at all. I don't know what to do about it. Do I wait and see if it starts working in the next week or so, or do I presume that a month is plenty of time and cut my calories back? Do I abandon it in favor of something that'll work for me? I'm just not quite sure. |

How about a belated "welcome"?
![]() One thing I read recently that may be way off from helping you but I'll throw it out there anyways. If the Scivation Cut diet puts you in a state of ketosis, then you must also avoid artificial sweeteners. A study has shown that it can pull your body out of that state. Like I said, I may be way off on the answer for you, but since I recently read that...it keeps poking me in my brain. I'm sure you'll get it worked out though.
