This mornings workout:

Didn't go to sleep last night, just couldn't fall asleep, so I decided to hit the gym again for what ended up being a weak and lazy session.

Standing Overhead Barbell Press:
135x10
215x5
215x5

Hammer strength BTN Press:
278lbx5
368x1*
*felt a tweak in the right delt, top side.
188x15
188x15

Dumbbell Lateral Raises: 45x10,10,10.

2" Axle Holds: 135lbx20seconds each hand.

Overall very dissatisfying and lacking energy, likely because I hadn't slept all night.

On a bright note I did tear a few phone books and roll a frying pan at around 2am this morning!!

you tried using lifting hooks? I bought a pair pretty cheap. Plan to use them once the grip gives way on the deads.

Hahaha I've never pulled an all nighter just to goto the gym in the morning, mine normally involve alcohol.
And no one lifts %100 after being up 24+ hours. Pretty hardcore Doc.

I like straps because you're still using some of YOUR own grip, hooks make it too easy.

Actually I did feel pinching the first time the strap broke on me, but I wouldn't call it an injury.

I tried using straps a couple of time, but didn't learn to love them. Somehow, I just can't get the straps to work. The only two times I tried they felt awkward and the barbell slipped at lower than normal loads. I got the hooks, but haven't tried them; probably wont until my grip fails again.

Figured out working on grip a little bit was a better way out.

Yeah developing your grip is where you want to start, everything else gets easier with a more solid grip strength!
