New routine started today, Vince Gironda's 8x8.
Chest Wide Grip Dips BW 8x8 Flat Bench Press 205lb 8x8 Incline Dumbbell Bench 65lb 8x8* *went deliberately light to test the waters, I'll throw 95lb'ers up next week Pec Deck 100lb 8x8 Back Row Machine 200lb 8x8* *deliberately light here too, I'll throw 225-245lb on next week Wide Grip Pulldowns 100lb 8x8* *this is done on one of those unilateral Lat pulls where the pulley system is more resisted, 100 feels like 185lb or so on a traditional Lat Pulldowns machine UniBarbell Rows (between the legs) Bar+55lb 8x8 Core Floor Crunches 125 total Today's workout and workload were mostly testing the waters for future 8x8 sessions. I put weight on that would comfortably be moved for 20reps or so per set, but only performed 8 reps with it each set (hence the concept of 8x8). I can go much heavier on the dumbbell inclines, can throw some more on the flat bench and can definitely pull more on the back exercises, I'll add weight next week and go from there... As with any workout split there's a personal learning curve, it takes time to figure out exactly what weights work, what exercises can be made harder...etc, couple weeks and I'll have the whole thing figured correctly and really see results. |

Today's workout was a lg 8x8 session, but I had to remove the compound lifts from it as my groin was still pulled from Saturday's session with he Zerker Squats.

Today's workout, shoulder and arm 8x8
Shoulders Military Barbell Press 135lb 8x8 Seated Overhead Press 200lb 8x8 Seated Lateral Raise Machine 75lb 8x8 Front Dumbbell Raises 30lb 8x8 Arms Preacher Curl 65lb 8x8 Nose breakers 65lb 8x8 Alternating Dumbbell Curl 40lb 8x8 VBar Pressdown 100lb 8x8 Cable Curl 60lb 8x8 Tricep Kickbacks 25lb 8x8 Went lightweight on the preacher and nose breakers BY ACCIDENT! ! ! I wasn't thinking, at all, and thought I was using 45lb plates NOT 25lb plates, I was wondering why it felt so light and easy lol, been a while since I've made a rookie mistake like that! Started the food regimen I'm on last Sunday, June 11, at 312lb. Empty stomach. Today I weighed in at 298lb, empty stomach. Quite the drop, water weight and what not included. |
