Default Ldydrgn's adventures in lifting

Today I went to the gym just to see where I was for my first meet Saturday. I know some say I should have just rested the whole week but I am excited to see where I should start on the platform. This will be my starting log and show progression to my goals.

Bench- 135
Dead lift - 185
Squat - eh

1st Goal
Bench - 185
Dead lift - 235
Squat - 155

For the meet I am thinking of :
Bench - 120, 130, 135
Dead lift - 155, 185, 190
No squats as this is push/pull only.

Input guys??

Great stuff Angela! Wish I could help but I've got no experience in PL competition. I'm sure someone will chime in though! Best of luck this weekend!!!

Congrats on competing!

I haven't yet it does seem like you could jump more than 5lb on the last attempt. Just a thought.

Great work, I probably wouldn't have gone that heavy when the meet is so close but go have fun and break some records!

Nice, how heavy did they feel...because I'm concerned with your recovery in trends of how close you're meet is.

I know that I should have taken more time off but I really wanted to make sure I felt good where I was. About 7 on your scale with 10 being best. Keep in mind, I am fasting when I work out at 6AM I knew we would be able to eat and carb load for the meet so I didn't stress it. I just wanted the starting numbers to be good. Since my first meet I wanted to let the cards fall where they may.

I didn't do regular sets. I only loaded what I thought would be good numbers to see where to start at. I literally did 4 reps on bench and about 5 reps on deads. Heaviest bench 125lbs... I think If I remember right. And the deads was only 185lbs. They felt comfortable. I made sure not to tax myself.

NOW FOR THE FUN PART!!!!!

The meet today went FANTASTIC! The judging was not as strict as a federation meet would have been but I still tried to maintain the standard. The hubby is working on posting a video I can upload to my Youtube for those that may be interested in checkin it out. This was a very small competition but was EXTREMELY fun and makes me want to compete on a professional level.

Bench
120, 125, 135 and a 140 attempt that failed

Deads
175, 185, 205, 225PR

*yes they did let us do a fourth attempt *

I should have started out higher on the deads but only having done them 5 times EVER in my life I wanted to just see where I stood. I could have pulled more after the fact. The adrenaline kicked in and I felt fantastic! I truly connected with the weights and see my self becoming really good. All I know is I am happy with myself. I have only been lifting heavy for about 6 months... I can only imagine what a few years will bring.

I want to thank BtB and J Byrd for the motivation... Hunter and Babs... a few more that I probably forgot but if you tossed me words of encouragement you know who you are so THANK YOU!! I wouldn't have gone if you guys hadn't been here for me. I hope to get more ladies in my area involved and will be sending them to the forums here.
