Slingshot FTW!!! Sure, it rubbed one of my arms raw, and it was all a bit awkward, but once I got the hang of it I thoroghly enjoyed this little guy.
Bench press with slingshot- barx5 135x5 225x3 275x3 315x2 315x2 315x2 325x2 Bench press- 275x3 225x5 Paused bench press- 225x5 225x5 Close grip triceps press- 135x8 135x8 135x7 Whole buncha' pressin' going on tonight. Once I get a hang of the slingshot I think it's going to be a great thing. It distracted me tonight. Kept me from keeping everything as tight as normal, or getting a good push from my lower body. I still moved the most weight I've ever moved on a bench press, but of course that's because of the slingshot. But I didn't get everything I can out of it. I'll do at least 335 next time I do a heavy benching day. Next bench day will be speed, with chains. Tomorrow will be my first deadlift day in a while, with my sweet new bar. I'll probably work up to the low 400's, then come back down for some sets of 3.

Strong work. How does your back handle squats with you looking down like that?

Ah, ok. Thanks. I was wondering why it wasn't working.

I've done that for a while. I started doing it once I started putting my hands all the way out to the collars. It feels great. I feel like I lead the lift with my back pushing into the bar. I do that even when I do ATG.

Ok, so my first deadlift session with my new bar started well, but unfortunately I couldn't quite get it done. I strained my lower back a little with 395. I've been neglecting my deadlifting lately, wating for my new bar. Now that it's here I'll get back to it. Luckily this strain is small. I can't even feel it unless I bend over, so it'll be fine tomorrow.
Deadlift with chains- 135+30x5 225+30x3 295+30x3 345+30x3 395+30x1 (this was the rep where I strained my back. I felt it halfway up but finished the rep) Inverted rows- BWx10 BWx8 BWx8 Like I said, this was nothing, and I'll be back and ready to rock in a couple days. For the inverted rows I hung a couple handles on chains attached to my racked bar. this worked very well, and is something I'll be continuing to use. Of course, I'm dissapointed in this session. The deadlifts felt awesome until I got to 345, where things started to slow down. I should have kept it light to work my way back into heavy DL'ing, but you live and you learn. I'm also trying to work on my form, getting my butt down a little more, but by thinking about my form I wasn't as aggressive with my pulls as I usually am. Oh well, life goes on. In a few days I'll give it another go and get things back on track.
