unfortunatly no. i know i need to work on bench form, but i find it wierd it would be so close.

as i mentioned last page i got 165x5x3 (actually failed on last rep of last set) regular bench last week, and got 160x5x3 EASY on CG yesterday.

could it have something to do with i used to train bis and tris all the time before learning compounds and hardly did bench????

That was my thought also, I used to be similar to you until I started training bench properly with proper form. I think if your triceps are very strong than your close grip will be close to or better than your regular bench. I also think close grip causes your back to squeeze tighter and if you do not squeeze your back while benching this could be another cause.

I wouldn't worry about it, it will work itself out. Just keep working hard and work on your form.

i've been watching some dave tate videos on benching. i see i have a lot to work on.

i was thinking the same thing about back being squeezed on CG

Good stuff, Dave Tate knows his shit, I watched many videos of him and I still do not have perfect form. The only thing I think about while benching heavy weights is staying TIGHT, the rest I let go to shit on my max attempts. I try to work on form with the lighter weights.
