I'm on my phone in the Vancouver airport, here's to hoping this post actually works.
Quick Nationals Write Up: Got into Vancouver on the 18th at like 11pm, which is 3am body time for me. Promptly got to the hotel and passed out on a makeshift bed on the floor. It was NOT a good sleep. On the 19th I spent the day eating, hydrating and filming teammates, as I was still under the 105s by like 2kg. On the 20th, woke up at 530am, got breakfast at 6, went back to bed for another 2 hours or so. Got up, headed to the venue. Weighed in at a monstrous 100kg (lol wtf howd I LOSE weight after eating all day?) Squats: warmed up to about 200kg. Felt verrryy loose. I could hit depth with a plate. Which NEVER happens for me. opener: 210kg absolute smoke show second 225kg buried it, smoked it, easy as fuck now, I was here to win, so I put 237.5kg as my third, to up my record by 7.5kg. This was a VERY conservative attempt. I killed it easily...but called on depth. The judging here was BEYOND strict. You had to be four inches deep to get anything passed. Whatever, I was still only 5kg off my PB with the 225 and I was 30kg up on my only competitor bench warmed up to 120kg opener: 127.5kg fucking destroyed it. Red lights for ass up. Lol what???? There was no way. I didnt even use leg drive. Whatever again, i was here to win, so i took it again and let my legs dangle loose. Killed it. Went 137.5kg for a 300+ bench for the first time ever. Absolutely ate it for dinner. Wanted to go for 145 that day, but stupid first attempt fucked me. Lost a bit of a lead here as other guy benched 152 or something. Deads warmed up to 220kg in the back room opener: 230kg lolol joooooke. 245kg second for a 5kg meet PB. Also a joke and secured the win for a third I had two options. Go for the total 105kg jr record or the deadlift and the total. So i did the latter and went 258kg. Absoltuely fucked killed it. Overall, I think I could have gone 245, 145, 272.5, but instead I went 225, 137.5, 258. However, I added a national champ gold medal, a deadlift record and the total record to my squat record, so I guess I'm happy with it. |

You simply murdered that meet Dave. It seems we all second guess our weight selections, but ya know what, at the end of the day you leave a champ and know for a fact you will progress at the next meet. You certainly have a very bright future in powerlifting.
