Alan - Thanks man, I was chuffed with it. Ravi - Cheers! Hunter - Thanks! We just need to keep our fingers crossed and hope I stay relatively injury-free. At least nothing catastrophic anyway! Not sure if you'll find this interesting but for the new guys to the forum this is my history: 2000-2006 - Slow but consistent progression, mainly raw PL. Ending at 227/137/230 @ 85. 2007 - Catastrophic injury following 10 months off training. Hamstring ripped clean off, followed by repeated re-injury during repeated failed attempts at getting a decent total together again. 2008 - Continued failed attempts at Rehab 2009 - Continued bodybuildng. Gave up hopes of powerlifting. 2010 - Bodybuilding 2011 - Bodybuilding, realised I'm getting strong again but vulnerable. Get in powerlifting equipment and that allows me to lift heavy again. 2012 - Competed twice equipped. 2013 - Sold my gear. Feeling strong raw. So 2006 to 2013 seemed like almost a hiatus from raw lifting, a very long painful hiatus. Between those years something inevitably hurt, and I had a lot of flexibility issues as a result of the hamstring. 2013 the year for PR's? Hope so! |

That's great info bud, thanks for sharing that again! That injury sounds horrible! Was it just a freak thing, pushing too hard, bad form on an off day....do you know why it happened? I ask only to learn as much as possible to hopefully avoid anything close to that! Thanks

Paradox - Thanks.
Hunter - I knew exactly what it was in hindsight. I had come off about a year of no training, my first training hiatus since I started lifting. I was living out in South Korea for almost two years, during that time training took a back seat. Upon return to the UK, I picked up where I left off and that was the main issue. I should have started back on a beginner routine, high volume/frequency and lower intensity until I was reconditioned and had built back my mass. This is why I would never recommend people just start back on their same routine after a long lay off. |

High Bar, beltless 20kg x 3 60kg x 3 100kg x 3 140kg/308lbs x 1 110kg/242lbs x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 Bench Press, touch n go 60kg x 3 80kg x 3 100kg x 3 120kg x 1 140kg x 1 152.5kg x 1 160kg/352lbs x 1 PR! 120kg/264lbs x 8 Deadlift 60kg x 3 (SLDL) 100kg x 3 (SLDL) 140kg x 3 190kg/418lbs x 1 200kg/440lbs x 1 210kg/462lbs x 1 140kg/308lbs x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 Lifetime PR on the Bench! It flew off the chest, would have gone higher I think 170kg would have gone today but that's not part of the plan just yet. Videos in a bit, after grub. |
