![]() As for strongman, I am incling into that area too. My current thinking is to keep the powerlifting cycles intact, but add in some strongman specific event training afterwards as conditioning and extra work on the main muscle movement of the day, ie. squats or bench, or deadlift. Would love to hear you thoughts on it though.

Swede - Cheers mate, yeah should be a laugh! I know you're enjoying it. It's a lot bigger and more organised scene in the UK than Powerlifting anyway. Btb - Thanks, that's what I'm working toward. Though I might widen my stance out again a little though. Ravi - Cheers buddy. High Bar, beltless 20kg x 3 60kg x 3 100kg x 1 140kg/308lbs x 1 100g/220lbs x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 Bench 60kg x 2 80kg x 1 105kg/231lbs x 1 Paused CGBP 85kg x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 Deadlift, belted 60kg x 1 100kg x 1 140kg x 1 170kg x 1 170kg/375lbs x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 Standing Press 40kg x 5, 5, 5 Good session. Widened the stance out on the Squats, was just as quick but less pressure on the knees. Was getting a little snappy at the end of last session. Everything was superfast. Video is just uploading. How do you like using the high bar? I have always been a low bar guy, but was suggested to switch to a higher bar. It was working well before the injury.

Hunter - Thanks man, the point of today was to move fast. And things were looking pretty fast and smooth there.
JB - I really like it. Really, really like it. I've been pummelling the quads the past couple months and now my beltless low bar is about the same as my beltless high bar. Low Bar with a belt overtakes my High bar with a belt slightly, as high bar doesn't really benefit from the belt much. But as it is, the high bar squats feel a lot better, look a lot better and do a great job of actually building some quads. So yeah, thumbs up from me. I did switch to high bar for the tail-end of my geared lifting this summer and I liked it then too. I'd say give it a try, you'll probably get more out of your gear as you can keep the bar over your hips better. |
