Thanks Paradox! I used to low bar squat but I had a severe forward lean! So I am high bar squatting now and have been for awhile.

Yeah like I said earlier I don't have a choice on squatting away from the mirror without spinning the rack around every time. Not sure I want to do that haha. I don't particularly think the mirror is a problem for me, but it may make squatting in a meet a little more terrifying since there won't be a mirror there lol

Hit the nail on the head, there. If you can't be bothered to turn the rack around now, you definitely should for the last couple weeks leading up to a meet.

And for that matter, practice cues. I drilled them into my head for my first meet and it still went down like this:

Squat 1 - Too easy and the bar flew off my back, causing me to fall forward, reds
Squat 2 - Up the weight, smoke it, get eager and rack before rack command, more reds.
Squat 3 - Up the weight again, have everyone scream at me to wait. Finally get whites.

Practice, practice, PRACTICE!

EDIT: Spelling lol

Hahaha yeah I can see ALL of that happening to me!. Will definitely be practicing with the commands! Hopefully I can have a "partner" at the meet with me to also help with the cues. Like yelling squat when I hit depth, yelling hold it after pressing so I don't rack before the command, things like that. I noticed those things at the meet a couple of weeks ago and thought they were very helpful.

Put a tall chef hat on and a red dot at top. Look at the dot in the mirror, problem solved

LOL - sounds awfully familiar. I did almost the exact same things at my first meet, except I dive bombed my first attempt, thinking I would show off my depth prowess lol.

Rich - I will come to your meet and hold a big mirror up for you.

We are also thinking of going back to Vegas this summer. Any interest in meeting up?
