Big disappointment today, went for a 5lb PR and just could not do it. Don't really know what to do now, thinking about going back to cycle 2 and hope to slowly work my way back up...

That happens to me on deads a lot for no reason.

Go back and get after it. Let us know if you need any help.

Your real-world max is going to fluctuate from day to day and week to week. The goal is for it to trend upwards over time, but some days stuff that should be easy just won't budge.

The important thing is, you did hit 95% of your training max, as prescribed for Week 3... personally I don't see any reason for you to reset.

Thanks for replying guys, felt pretty depressed after not lifting what I wanted to. I guess I'm a little eager to move up in the weights, so I think yesterday was just kind of a eye opener. Goes to show there will be set backs and cant always push for the PR

Gonna finish up wave 4 tomorrow (Friday) with my OH Press then take the Deload week. Give me some time to reflect and see where I wanna go with my deadlift.

I did the exact same thing. Missed a deadlift right before CHristmas, got pissed and took a week off. Came back much better and got a PR a few weeks after that.

I have a love/hate thing with deadlifts for sure! haha.

Just keep at it. You'll get it.

FWIW, I wouldn't reset yet either. Just a bad day.

Thanks for sharing your experience Mike, probably was just a bad day for me. I think the best thing for me now is to take the deload week, re-due this cycles DL percents and get it next time.
