July 2nd 2012. I hit 365 on sumo. September 10th 2012,I hit 405 conventional. The only thing that has moved is sumo,20lbs in six months. Conventional deadlift hasn't moved. I pulled sumo again tonight, failed 385 three times. I sat down in the corner and cried behind the power rack. Even the mexican horse shit chugger stopped to look after he fell down trying to kick a waist-high punching bag. I have found nothing in my logs as far as programming that would have caused this monumental failure. I know my form needs work,I tend to round my lower back with conventional. Should I stop heavy deads for a few months? Whatever it takes, because I don't give a fucking fuck about power cleans or pullups anymore. I want to be a cockstrong powerlifter.

some food for thought on rounded back....please note, potentially high risk and controversial:
T NATION | A Strong Case For the Rounded Back Deadlift your DL probably just hit the linear progression wall... ask around and start thinking about puling for a max less often. What's your DL program cycle now? also, sumos are good, but deficit squats, rack pulls, Dimel DL, etc. might have more direct effect on your conventional pulling. Where is your sticking point?

Right now we working with continual 3 weeks periods heavy/fast/reps (Cube method style) I think the problem is up until recently I didn't have any goals set. My plan hasn't changed. Hit three singles with 385 on sumo, then go for 405 on the next heavy day. Similar pulling conventional, work with 385 for a while then go after 415. Gotta get my form down though! After that long paragraph,I thank everyone for their support. Your right, maybe it was just a crap shot day.

I have the same issue Ben. Anything 70ish% and up my low back rounds a bunch! Lower weights I do ok. It's nowhere near as bad with sumos, plus they feel more natural to me. Might be my height, but it's also a form thing. We just need to be patient and keep working at it!
